So I'm tinkering with the idea of combining a stay at Tokyo Disney with Aulani. Has anyone used DVC points at Tokyo Disney? Any opinions on whether its a good use of points or is it better to pay cash? There don't seem to be any discounts for cash stays and the rates are pretty $$$.

We LOVE Tokyo Disney! And especially DisneySea (absolute favorite park ever)! We can't wait to go back :) We went for the babymoon before my first was born and now we have 3 age 6 and under. We have looked at using points out there, but honestly they have a couple of hotels that are like a 5min walk away that overlook the park... They also have a very frequent Mickey bus that goes back and forth (literally, Mickey everywhere...)
We got a GREAT deal at one of those last time that makes it not worthwhile to use points.

For the time I went, and the exchange rate, it was a terrific use of points... Tokyo Disney is unlike anything we have in the US... The parks are absolutely incredible...

I would give it a try...

Wife I went for 7 nights this past April... Was a great time to go.

We went to Tokyo 2 years ago and used points for the Toyko Disneyland Hotel. Wonderful hotel and it was a great value for the DVC points back then. I'm not sure what the exchange rates are now.

We chose the Disneyland Hotel because we needed a room that could accommodate 5. Otherwise I would have chosen MiraCosta due to it being a part of DisneySea. You also get extra fastpasses and early admission to the parks for staying on site.

There are some unbelievable trip reports in the Other Lands section. I did one but it pales in comparison to lurkyloo - IMO that is the Gold Standard of TRs.

I really liked Tokyo Disneyland, and especially Tokyo Disneysea.
But I didn't want to spend that many points or that many $$$ to stay at a Disney hotel, although the Disneyland Hotel and Hotel Miracosta especially looked like great places to stay.

I had a lot of Hilton hotel points, so I stayed at the Hilton Tokyo Bay hotel.
It's located on Tokyo Bay, and just across the street is a stop on the monorail loop, so it was very convenient to the parks. The stops are: Disneyland, neighbor hotels (there are maybe 6 or so neighbor hotels and they all had free shuttle to the monorail station, but the Hilton was so close I didn't bother with the shuttle), Disneysea, and the train station/Ikspiari(Ikspiari is sort of like a DtD). So I had a free hotel and free breakfast in the concierge lounge, which was great considering how expensive Tokyo is.

That's where we were! I was trying to remember without looking it up :) We did do the shuttle several times since I was 5mo pregnant at the time. If you do a neighbor hotel you simply must ride the crazy Mickey shuttle if only to see the inside and hear Tokyo Mickey make the announcement :)
