Kyodo, JIJI

The Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea amusement parks drew a combined 31.38 million visitors in fiscal 2014, breaking the attendance record for a third consecutive year despite a hike in entrance fees, their operator said.

The figure represents an increase of 79,000, or 0.3 percent, on the previous fiscal year, when events were held to celebrate Tokyo Disneyland’s 30th anniversary, Oriental Land Co. said Wednesday.

An event featuring the hit Disney movie “Frozen,” a projection mapping show at Cinderella Castle introduced last May, and the revamped Jungle Cruise ride helped reel in more visitors, the company said.

In addition, many apparently rushed to visit the parks ahead of the hike in admission fees in April.

In all, the two parks have drawn 630.39 million visitors since they opened.
