DH and I went on Saturday for lunch to Tokyo Dining. The lunch specials changed so we tried other options on the menu. DH ordered an appetizer for $9.95 and it turned out to be only 3 pieces of eel sushi. I can get a whole roll of eel sushi for that price anywhere else. I got a bento and it had a bite of this and that but not enough for an actual meal. It was $26.95 and I went away hungry. I get a bento anywhere else and it's plenty and for half the price. DH got the shrimp and scallop tempura and for $25.95 he got a lot less than what you get here at home for half that price. We used a Disney Visa Rewards card to pay for it but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The food was alright but not worth the price at all. I know you're paying for the atmosphere but it's sad that they raise the price so much for such not outstanding food. We'll be skipping this from now on.

We have a dinner reservation booked here...if the food was good that is fine with me, we are going for tempura because we cannot get that locally.

I feel the same way about Teppen Edo...such a rip compared to what you get at a local hibachi place.

The food was ok but not outstanding. I've had better locally. It's always good to try a place once. This was our second time there and the experience just wasn't as good as December was.

We have always really enjoyed Tokyo Dining but have not been there in about a year. Last time we did the Tempura for dinner, it was more than we could finish and we are big eaters. I am sorry to see their portions have shrunk!

As you point out, any Disney restaurant is going to be far more expensive than what you get locally regardless of where you live. I think the DDP/Free Dining have made that even more an issue. When I think what I pay for Mexican food around here (Colorado) locally vs. what we pay in Disneyland and WDW, its sort of depressing.

Disney meals are often delicious but seldom known for their value sad to say.

Sorry you didn't enjoy TD, I hope other meals you had were better!

I agree about the prices being a little high, but I think that at most restaurants in Disney. I think the quality, especially that of their tempura, is really good though.

I am so sorry for your experience. I always have my car and I know that is not possible for everyone. If you do have a car on your next stay go to Oishi sushi near Seaworld. I go for the sushi, but they have a full and diverse menu, plus a few Hibachi stations. In my upcoming trip we are dining there and will post review on trip boards.
