So DBF tried to clean the toilet yesterday with Kaboom foaming wash...well it still let the ring around the toilet...like a water type stain....how can we get that out?

My grandmother always told me that you can't really get a toilet clean and unless you put your hands in and scrub!

Did you scrub it? If you did, then most likely this ring around the toilet is caused by the minerals in your water and they build up and adhere. If you look in a hardware store (or even some regular stores with a good selection of cleaning products) you should be able to find a product that removes hard water stains. You will have to apply it, let it sit, and scrub, but it should work.

We have incredibly hard water and have to use a pumice stone to remove those mineral deposits in our guest bathroom where the water stands for longer periods of time. You can buy them at Home Depot, Lowes, etc. It's not a quick/easy thing to use but it does work.

Yes, a pumice stone will do the trick. Just rub the stone along the ring line and it will go away. Your bowl will look like new! Make sure to wear rubber gloves, too.;)

what about vinegar? Whenever we have hard water stains vinegar takes it out. I took all of my faucet heads and soaked them overnight in vinegar and all the calcium deposits just came off like nothing. Possibly take a brick to raise the water line and fill as far as it will go without flushing with vinegar and let stand for a while.

Have you tried the cleaners that have Clorox in them? I find that they work best in our toilets. Our water must not be very hard. I have never scrubbed our toilets with anything but a toilet brush. The only rings we get are when the water sits in our guest bathroom toilet for a while. It sometimes makes a ring. The gel toilet bowl cleaners won't work. Neither does Kaboom. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure Kaboom does anything impressive except bubble up. And it won't even do that if you don't use it soon after you open it. The first time we used the bottle it bubbled up nicely. Several months later we tried using the rest and it didn't bubble at all. The kind with Clorox always gets the ring off when we leave it sitting for about 15 minutes.
