I am looking for ideas in Nassau. We originally planned to stay on the ship, but now that my 22 month-old is not permitted in the pool that is silly. We thought that we should get a room at the Comfort Suites, but the hotel told me you can't check in until 3:00 PM. We thought the kids would have fun at the pool at the Atlantis. The Atlantis told me that they offer day rooms the day of arrival if rooms are available. Does anyone have any suggestions? If the cruise is sold out will there really be any rooms available? Should I just book the Comfort Suites or is all of this a waste of time? We will also have my 4 year-old daughter with us.

Even though check-in isn't until 3, you can check-in earlier and get your bracelet for the Atlantis. Just ask them when you get there. Basically what they are saying is that your room won't be ready until 3:00, you can check-in anytime before that. Have a GREAT time!!

I have read on these boards that there is a height limit so young children can not use the slides at the pools. I did not know if you were aware of that.

We took a taxi over to Atlantis and visited the aquariums with my 4 year old and 16 month old DS's. It was great, we left the ship around 9am and were back by 1:00 pm via taxi. The Taxi driver also threw in a mini tour of the island the good and bad which made us feel very fortunate. We were back in the ship for lunch then nap time for the kids. It was great. We may do the same or do the Atlantis Beach Break in 2003.

Buzzandwoodysmom:

Question for you. I was thinking of taking a taxi over to Atlantis with my 3.5 DD but am concerned about not having a car seat. What did you do?

I just held my DS on my lap. He was alseep the whole ride and tour of the island anyway. We were packed in a van with my 5 yar old DS, mother, father, DH, and 2 sisters. I have been to Nassau many times but this lady drive well maybe it was because my mother is in a wheel chair but she did fine. It seems like such a short drive because you are constantly winding around streets and stopping. Let me know if you have any other questions and feel from to PM me.

I am going on a short 3 day RCCL Mommy's away trip the end of August and we have planned the Atlantis beach break so after I do that I will post and give a opinion on that since yout ake water taxi over. When are you cruising?

Hi, I can only assume that your toddler is not allowed in the Disney pool because of not being potty trained?? If that is indeed the case, and before you plunk down money on Atlantis, you may want to make sure that your child can go into THEIR pools. My family runs a community pool and it is Health Codes that prevent this, BUT these codes differ from state to state and I am sure, country to country.

Hope you find a solution!

Thank you for the responses. I think we will give the Atlantis a try, it sounds like fun! We booked a room at the Comfort Suites for $175. I hope this is a decent price, my fault for waiting too long.

Here's a tip if you get a crazy driver in Nassau (or anywhere) .....

Tell the driver there's an extra $10 in the tip if he slows down!

(It's worked for us)

We are going in May but for sure will not be taking the ship sponsored transportation (ie: water taxi). I guess she can use the seat belt (please tell me there are those! In a mexican taxi one time there was noting even remotely resembling one). My dd is currently 40 pounds and tall so although a booster would be best, I guess the seat belt will have to do.

How did you 4 YO like Atlantis? Was he bored or did he love the aquarium?

Yes, in our van their were seat belts and shoulder belts. My 4 year old LOVED Atlantis. One funny story, we were walking thru and looking at the fish in the aqauriums and there was a scuba diver in the tanks doing maintenance. Before I could cover my sons eyes a BIG shark swam up and chopped a HUGE Flounder right in half in front of us. We all stood there like Oh no thinking my 4 year old would flip. He calmly turned around and said "why did he do that". Well I have never seen a scuba guy move so quickly to get out. All of the Atlantis workers said they have never seen that happen that they keep the fish and espcially sharks fed so they don't feed on each other but they think the scuba guys presence agited the shark. Oh well it turned out funny but that huge flounder was floating around in 2 pieces......did not do anything for my appetite :)
