The show is just plain disturbing!!! The little 4 year old girl MacKenzie, is such a little brat! I don't know how her mother let's her be so cheeky. The mothers on the show are just laughing off their little 'divas' behaviour which is totally unacceptable in my books.

All the money spent on hair and makeup, costumes, various lessons etc., and the grand prize is only $1000? Doesn't make sense.
Then there is some filthy rich mother with twin baby girls who can't even walk. She has spent $250,000 thousand, so far, has flown in their private plane to the pageant in the hopes that one of her daughter's win $1000. :confused3

It's all very creepy to me. But that's just my opinion!

Everytime they try to justify the return on investment, it just blows my mind.

And MacKenzie is the worst Brat ever. Haven't watched the show, but she needs to lose the dang binkie for goodness sake.

ETA: For what they spend, they could hire the best modeling company, the best acting coaches and have their children learn actual skills to become famous since that is what they desire.

Today was the first time EVER that I've seen this show. It wasn't the premiere one but one of the ones that was on during this afternoon. My mouth hung open, I don't think I even blinked or breathed while watching it. There literally were NO WORDS to explain how I felt watching it. :confused3

There was one mom who said something about how expensive it is to have your child do the pagents and the richest people are the ones who usually win because they can afford the most expensive gowns, etc. She also said it was all about fake nails, fake hair, fake tans, fake lashes, tons of make-up, etc. My question is......if everything on these little children is ALL fake, then what the hell are you judging? One thing that really disturbed me was the "flippers" (as they called it) It's a mouth piece of some sort so it "looks" like the girls have perfect teeth instead of their missing, growing, crooked teeth!!!! I mean REALLY???? They looked worse wearing those things than their natural cute self :confused3 And truly, the "natural" side of these girls were MUCH prettier than then "fake" side. It was truly horrifying to see little girls that age with so much make up on and their hair looking the way it did. Do the parents truly want to see their children succeed in the modeling business or do these parents wish it was THEM that was on stage? I just don't get it.

And I also noticed that they say how nobody goes home without a crown or trophy. WTH!!! This is why children these days can't deal with "losing" Nobody wants to tell little Suzie that she's not "the best", so everyone walks away with a crown?????

I really don't understand how parents can do this to these kids. The thing is, I seriously could not pry myself away from the TV for a couple hours while watching it. It was like a train wreck that you just HAD to stare at. But in reality, I was truly flabbergasted at these people.

And some of the attitudes on these little girls???? Seriously, there are no words.

The wealthy woman should have taken the $250,000 they spent on the pageants to get her really bad plastic surgery fixed.

Is it bad that at the end when they were crowning Grand Supreme or whatever the highest one is, I was saying to myself "I hope Danielle doesn't win!"? :rotfl:.

IMO, Danielle was worse than Mackenzie. D is old enough to know better. I too was happy that she didn't win.

So it was you who made her cry?

:upsidedow

She seemed so nice at the beginning of the show and then her ego came out.

This show is just flat out disturbing, and pageants like these ought to be banned.

Normal kid activities are soccer, basketball, swimming, dance, gymnastics, karate, music lessons, and of course there are a lot more I'm missing.

Dressing a child in fancy dresses, giving them fake tans, fake nails, make up to the nines, and just plain pampering them for the sole purpose of putting them on stage to compete in a dress, then followed by a short little talent segment, and bathing suit for the sole purpose of winning money in a pageant is not at all normal kids stuff at all.

OMG....I was thinking the same thing! It was her attitude that was ticking me off. Not to mention her arrogant mother.

Did anyone notice MaKenzie's mom is pregnant?

In my opinion,
MaKenzie is just a representation of under educated and/or lazy parents raising children.

Danielle has been raised to believe that beauty and perfection is most important in life. I am afraid she is headed for many emotional issues as she grows up.

The majority of these parents featured on this show (not all) are overweight, under-educated, and seem to have their own emotional/self-esteem issues and are trying to over compensate with being told their child is beautiful through pageants.

You said it all! While I watched in disbelief and disgust, I couldn't stop myself from watching the whole show!

:lmao: Glad you said it! I was only thinking it! LOL

This series is distrubing in SO many ways. But I confess that it's the one "train wreck" reality series that I watch periodically, because just when you think it can't get any worse... it does. Probably the most bizarre episode was the one last year when the promoter literally skipped out with all the cash and left the winners IOUs.

I also find it mind boggling that after the first year of the show there are still mothers willing to be featured on the show with their child(ren) and are obviously so clueless as to how they are perceived by the viewing public.

The majority of these parents featured on this show (not all) are overweight, under-educated, and seem to have their own emotional/self-esteem issues and are trying to over compensate with being told their child is beautiful through pageants.
Along those same lines, I can't believe the mothers that get up in the middle/front of the audience and mirror their kids' on-stage routine. I know part of it is coaching (and if the kids cannot do it on their own perhaps they shouldn't be doing it in the first place), put part of it also seems to be them re-living their childhood vicariously through their own daughter.

These are the little girls you will see in about 10 years starring on shows like "16 and Pregnant".

Disgusting.

I can not stand this show but I do find myself inexplicibly attracted to it at the same time :upsidedow DD is watchng it right now....some of these kids are complete brats and I can't believe some of the attitudes they get away with. I also noticed that a lot of the moms are heavy and/or not attractive...I can't help but feel they are trying to live vicariously through their daughters :sad2: It's truly disturbing

I'd like to suggest everyone stop watching this exploitive, show that is dangerous to these children. If they don't have an audience, the show will be cancelled. I have not watched it and won't.

The show's not the "problem", the pageants are the issue... and I think that it's safe to say that people aren't running out to enter their daughters in such pageants due to the series (probably the opposite as many parents tempted to enter their kid in one will see that they are rip-offs). Sometimes turning people's stomachs can have a overall benefit. I also don't think the kids are just "acting out" because of the cameras.

I admit to watching the show. It has a horrid fascination for me. A lot of the time, I really want to discipline those bratty kids--and send their moms for some major therapy. On the serious side, I can't help but regret that the parents aren't saving the money they are wasting on pagents for their child's education.

There is a show that featured two former child pagent 'stars'. One of the girls used her prize money to pay for an education, and had just been hired at her first job at a restaurant to help with her education costs. The other girl is still doing pagents--not very successfully--and coaching little girls for their toddler pagents.
