Our babysitting arrangement for Not So Scary may fall through, and we're unable to find a replacement, so my husband and I are debating whether to eat the ticket cost or bring our almost 3-year-old with us. I usually would be 100% against it, however, he LOVES Halloween so I genuinely think he would have a blast (if he doesn't turn into Muffin from Bluey). He will eventually fall asleep in the stroller if he's tired enough and has finally gotten to the age where we can transfer him while he's sleeping and he won't immediately be wide awake. We are locals, so him having a bad night of sleep won't ruin a vacation or anything, and we can leave early and take him home if we need to. Am I crazy to even consider this? Does anyone have experience/advice regarding bringing toddlers to parties? It's a Sunday, so we would try to have him do a late nap that day.

I'd take him. Are you staying on property for your trip? Bc if you are and it's not going well, either you or your husband can just take him back to the room and leave the rest to enjoy the party - better than eating the entire ticket cost, IMO. Kids can be so unpredictable, but when we took our daughter for her first Disney trip, she was 2.5, and she wouldn't sleep UNLESS we were out, walking her around in the stroller. As a result we got to spend plenty of nights just eating/drinking in Epcot with her passed out. Fast forward a few years, we're back in Disney with our now 5 year old and our youngest, who was short of 2 at the time. Unfortunately, a party WOULD NOT have worked at all for him at that age and in that phase. I'm sure it all depends on the kid and the circumstances, but I'd at least give it a try.

We took ours to MVMCP at 2 years 10 months and she had a wonderful time! We all did!

It was a sold out night and we couldn't find a decent spot for the first parade, so we even did the 2nd parade. I remember sitting up Main street by the Emporium, being asleep waiting for the parade, waking her up as it was getting near and her being groggy and cranky for about 30 seconds and then seeing it coming and getting all excited and loving it, and then she was back in the stroller and out cold before we got out of the park. She has always been a bit of a night owl though.

If the choice is between eating the ticket cost or trying it, there is no reason not to try it. You can always leave if you were just going to eat the ticket cost anyway.

We just took our 2 yo and he stayed awake until 11:30. I will say he napped at home before we drove over for the party though
