I need some recommendations on a light weight stroller for ds. He is around 37 or 38 lbs. He has outgrown his umbrella stroller and his big one he is almost too big for. What I am running into is that most only go up to 35 or 37 lbs. I have found a few I like but I can not find any info on them as far as safety.

TIA

I have been searching this for months with no luck. I found a Maclaren stroller on ebay for $50 (they retail $250) and hold up to 50 lbs. But I just didn't want to spend this kind of money. :sad1:

I have a Maclaren Quest (two actually). I believe they hold up to 55lbs. My DS3 is 39lbs. I love this stroller. I think that all Macalren strollers hold up to 55. They really hold up well, light weight, easy to fold, easy to push (even one handed). Both of my DSs say they are comforatble. They recline almost all the way down, which is great because my kids will nap in the stroller. My older son, now 6, still uses his every now & then & he's 53lbs 48 inches.

I know they are pricey, but I think they are so worth it.

The Maclarens hold up to 55lbs for singles and 55lbs each side for doubles. I read somewhere that the new ones coming out this year (or maybe next) will be rated up to 65lbs. Albee Baby here has the 2006 Volo for as low as $80. I've seen this stroller recommended quite a bit here. One possible down side of this particular model is it doesn't recline, but it's a very lightweight one and great for travel.

A while back, I bought a Kidco LS2000 off of ebay for a little over $100 and we still use it. It's very similar to the Maclarens and is rated up to 50lbs. DS is almost four and still fits in it OK. We have definitely gotten our money's worth out of it with all the trips it's been on with us. It's showing some wear now, but despite the abuse we've given it, it's still holding up pretty well. I'm sure we'll get several more trips out of it.

I LOVE my Maclarean!! HIGHLY recommend it!
Would you ONLY be using it for WDW? Or is it something you need for every day life aside from WDW? It's a little pricey, so if you plan on using it for just Disney, you might want to find something different, otherwise...TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE!!! I think you'll like it! :)

I loved our Combi, but we stopped using it last fall because it is set rather low to the ground and DD would drag her feet along the wheels and the ground. It was also getting difficult to steer because of her weight. My DD was around 35 inches and maybe 33 pounds at the time. We have an Inglesina Trip now that I really like.

Combis are also very short and not good for taller adults. A Chicco C5 or Capri is another relatively cheap option as well.

I'm a big fan of Inglesina and the Swift model will hold over 45lbs easily. It's comparable to a Maclaren Triumph, the quality is excellent and it's much cheaper at around $119 shipped.
