Just curious as to if there are certain areas where one could nap a toddler at the parks when the need comes? If so would bringing a sheet or beach towel to lay in the grass be acceptable or frowned on? TIA! Sean

... one of those double ones. They are plenty big. We were able to fit three kids in there on our last two visits. DH called it: "We're not spoiling the kids - we're spoiling ourselves." Amen to that!

Your toddler should be able to nap in there as you go through the park. Bring some soft throw blankets to make the stroller more comfy. As for being in the grass, there's not much grass out there. And I wouldn't lay out in the grass anyway, because I've been bit by fire ants down in FL. Those things HURT.

There is no place to bring the toddler in for a nap inside the park. Unless you go to a first-aid station. But most people who use that are those with special needs. If you're staying onsite, I would highly recommend going to the room to take a nap if you need a quiet place and then return to the park later.

We're not park commandos by any means, so we always went back to the resort in the afternoon to rest & swim.

Have a great trip!

Just watch the fire ants if you spread something on the ground. They give a nasty bite.

my toddler-at-the-time napped in his stroller... i parked it in the shade near dumbo, got an ice cream, watched him nap while dh took my dd on a few extra rides... when both kids needed naps, we went back to the room... ds also fell asleep on the bus once and we went for an extra long ride 'til he woke up... he also snoozed thru 3 or 4 shows in the theatre at the american pavilion at epcot and on the tomorrowland transit authority (again, we took an extra spin or two)... when my guy wants to sleep, very little will stop him!

Is there no place in the baby care centers for a quick nap? I've only visited one once, but kind of thought that was what they were for, feeding, changing, napping, etc...

Just answered my own question - went to allearnet.com - it says that the baby care centers have feeding rooms, changing areas, a toy room with videos, adult restrooms, and emergency supplies for a small fee, but not room for napping

When our kids were babies/toddlers we just let them nap in the stroller. I would usually sit in an air conditioned place like the restaurant in Tomorrowland and read a book, etc. while dh went to ride something or dh took dd to ride something. It's fun to people watch too.

Do they have double strollers in the Magic Kingdom? Was reading somewhere else (an older 2001 WDW book - am waiting for a new 2007 book) that there were no double strollers in MK - thought that was bizarre but wanted to ask! I hope the answer is YES or no one would have suggested it! I just can't say I noticed when I was there childless - am asking for a friend!

Yes, they do. They're not your "standard" double strollers like you see at your local store where you can buy a stroller, though.

*goes to look for a picture to post as an example*

Here ya go. This was taken in July 2003, and they're still the same. Note that my three kiddos were seated pretty comfy in there. It being so darned hot & humid then, they had NO problem sharing the stroller and even took turns who was sitting where in the stroller. In this picture, they were 3, 5, and 7.

I remember on that 2003 trip, we saw a family at AK that had FOUR kids in that double stroller!

On our last trip, the kids were 6, 8, and 10 and they still were able to fit in the stroller. Heh. But the 10yo was more content to walk around instead and even wanted to push the stroller. But the 6yo would have none of that! He knew his (severely ADHD) brother way too well, and was afraid he'd get into his "fast mode.":lmao:

Our only complaint is the MGM strollers. We think those are awful!

I second the Tomorrowland Transit Authority...DD2 fell asleep during our first go around so DH & DD9 went to ride Space Mountain. DD2 was refreshed after her nap & I think I memorized the entire ride...

Paging Mr. Morrrow, Mr. Tom Morrow...gotta love it!

Thank you to everyone for all the help, it appears that renting the double stroller and bringing a blanket and small pillow for comfort will be the way to go...anyone know the cost of renting the double stroller? If anyone has any other tips for my first trip to the world with a toddler please offer it! Thanks again for all the wonderful info! Sean

If this is your first visit to WDW, I would strongly suggest taking a mid-day break and go back to your resort for some down town for everyone. Yes, your toddler will be able to nap in a stroller ( I remember my kids could sleep anywhere!) Not sure I'd bring a small pillow though, unless I'd be willing to loose it. Remember when you go on rides you will either need to carry everything with you or leave it in the stroller where anyone might take it.

Have a blast at WDW! You will have some magical memories!

We just got back a couple of weeks ago w/ our 2 yr old. I don't know when you are going to WDW, but in the summer heat, it wipes everyone out by like 1:00 or 2:00pm. Our 2yr old is an early riser (no matter what time we let him stay up until), so it was better for us to get to the parks as soon as they opened. We were beat by 2 ish, and headed back to the resort for a nap (all of us), then went swimming, got showers and headed back out for dinner until like 9. It worked great for us. There was a couple of times our son fell asleep in the stroller, and that's when we did our shopping to try and keep him in the ac. In MK, by the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction to the right is a great shady are w/ benches. We went there the one time for his nap, and it was pretty cool too. It wasn't crowded either! He also fell asleep in the Hall of Presidents too! You can't take strollers in there though, so he lapped it! When we were in MGM, there is a movie about Walt Disney's life (I forget what it was called), and he fell asleep in there, again no strollers, so you have to lap it, but when we got out, we carried him right to the stroller and he stayed asleep for another hr. My son has never fallen asleep anywhere but his crib and a pack and play and he is on a schedule, so I was worried about him never falling aslepp unless we went back to the room, but he did. So it just goes to show if they are that wiped out, they will sleep anywhere!!!!!!

Wow - great thread. Thanks bionic for the pic of the double stroller - no doubt you were at MK from that great picture! :teeth:

I was thinking a large beach towel might work to soften the stroller and more easily replaced if stolen (rather than a blanket). What do you think of that?

How about AK? Do doubles work there too. The walkways seemed so crowded when we were there!

Other suggestions I have read. Tom Sawyer Island. Plenty of shade and quiet. The entrance to I guess it is Liberty Square to the left side of the castle there is a small circular seating area under a big tree. How about Hall of Presidents?

This is why we always brought a full sized, fully reclining stroller. He'd crash and we'd keep on going.

Just a little hint for those of you worried about losing blankets etc. - at IKEA the other day, they had fleece blankets for $2.50 - I grabbed a couple for beach blankets and etc. but they would probably be great for padding a stroller and you wouldn't be too upset if you lost 'em!

You're welcome, glad you liked it! :)

The strollers at AK are similar to the ones at MK. Epcot's the same too. MGM looks like those little director's chairs, and on the doubles, the seating is separated, and three kids cannot share that thing comfortably at all.

I really wish they'd ditch those horrid MGM strollers and replace them with the ones they have in the other three parks. :crazy2:

A large beach towel, or the cheap throw blankets that NurseJamie suggested should work great for providing comfort. Maybe a plushy nylon blanket, so it doesn't absorb heat?

My little ones always dozed int he stroller. . . note the reason that we carry the back pack---We bring a couple of fluffy blankets and she snoozing so good!!! She also loves the TTA for naps.
