2 Atlanta area toddlers have been hit by cars in 2 days.

A 2 yr old was killed this morning when he left his home and walked onto a busy highway. http://www.accessatlanta.com/partners/wsbtv/news/clayhit1009.html It apppears that his mother had left for work and the remaining adults were still in bed. The child work up looking for his mother and left the house.

Just yesterday another child was seriously injurred when he left his home while his father was helping another child with their home work.

the description of the scene of the accident where the child was killed is horrible. Apparently several cars hit hime before someone realized he wasn't a small animal that had run out into traffic.

Please keep the families of the children and the motorist involved in your thought and prayers.

That happened here not very long ago but thank God the baby didn't get hurt. He toddled out into the highway in his diaper and a lady saw him and swerved to miss him and thankfully stopped her car in the middle of the road and saved him. The sad part is that absolutly NOTHING happened to the parents who let him wander into the street.

Poor Baby!! God bless him...:(

Good grief!!! That is absolutely terrible. Being the parent of a 3 yr old I just can't imagine..............

Oh, I feel for those involved in this tragedy.

My barely 3 yr old nephew got out of my brothers 2nd floor apartment. He unlocked the door, drug his tricycle down the stairs and got out of the gated complex and onto a busy road before a lady almost hit him. She actually thought she had hit him because he fell off the bike and was lying in the road. They called the ambulance and took him to the hospital without a scratch. He gave them my brothers name and they went and told him. It was very early in the morning and they had been sleeping.

Child protective services did investigate. He put deadbolts up high on all his doors after that. I am just so thankful he was ok. My brother will never forget that terrible feeling of driving past where he saw his sons tricycle and not knowing.

What a horrible heartbreaking tragedy :( :( :( . It puts a horrible image in my mind of that poor baby in his last moments.

I am sure they didn't intend for him to leave the house. My DH and I learned the hard way that locks don't always stop curious toddlers. DS got out after he (yes at 2) pushed the end table closer to the door, climbed up and unlocked 2 locks (one was a chain the other a deadbolt) and went out at 4 in the morning. It happens. After that 2 more locks were installed including one on his window and one that had to be opened with a key. Just in case.

What tragedies! And they could have easily been prevented by having locks high up on the doors where the kids can't reach that would prevent the doors from opening.

When DS was 2 we lived in an apartment that had a deadbolt that was out of DS's reach. While I was using the bathroom he pushed his table up to the door and unlocked it and ran and jumped in the swimming pool. Luckily he knew how to swim.

Recently a friend and her DH both fell asleep in differnt rooms on the house, each thinking that the other was watching their 2 yr old. When they realized he was goen they found him about 1/2 mile down the road dressed in nothing but boots and a hat, pushing a toy stroller. He was headed to the park.

Thses accidents appear to be just that, accidents.
