Toddler area at OKW pool?

Hi All,

We stayed at OKW prior to the pool renovation (and prior to having a kidlet with us too!), so I'm trying to find out a little more info on the OKW pool. Is there a splashy area that has more than just the standard kiddy pool? We stayed at SSR last year and the Donald area was a blast for my DS and I'm hoping the new OKW pool area has something similar. We're members at BWV, and I have to say that spraying elephant has nothin' on Donald's area

I'm hoping to stay at OKW this fall and it would be great if their renovation included something more fun than the standard kiddy pool. Of course we could always pool hop...we've never tried it, though, it seems so much easier to just stay at your resort. Any thoughts?

We were at OKW in January. There was the main pool and a standard kiddie pool with a sandy play area behind it. Nothin special that we took notice of. We only used the main pool-none of the quiet pools.

I don't think the kiddie area changed with the addition of the slide. You still have a small, round pool themed with a sandcastle, big bucket, etc. Way back when our kids were young, they loved it. They also loved going to Stormalong Bay but sadly you can't use that pool any more unless you're staying there.

One of the reasons why I like the SSR pool so much is that if you go to the pool as a large family or group, you don't need to really be 'separated' from your group when travelling with a small child and its easier to keep an eye on both the smaller child and a bigger child at the same time. I also love the zero entry and kiddie slide there. When using the OKW pool the toddler area is separated a bit from the main pool and I didn't like the fact that our family had to be separated if DD-3 wanted to use the kiddie pool.

When we go on Tuesday...we're hopping to SSR pool on the first day (we arrive around noontime).

We have stayed at OKW and SSR with DD2. THe SSR pool is wonderful for toddlers but I enjoyed OKW too. In some ways the OKW round kiddie pool is easier to 'contain' a small child than the SSR pool. At OKW I could sit on the side of the pool and watch her play and splash with other kids. At SSR she would go out into the deeper area so you cannot sit back at all. Don't misunderstand me, I did not leave her alone at OKW, but I could watch safely from the edge as the pool is small and there was nowhere for her to go. At SSR they can drift off.

We still love the SSR pool best though. Both are fun. Pool hop to SSR then you can enjoy both. DD loved the serpent slide at POFQ too, we might go there next trip. Not long to wait!!!
