Today on Oprah, she did shoe, handbag & accessory "make-overs". I have plantar fasciitis, and there is no way I could wear any of the shoes they showed. If my orthotic doesn't fit in it, I can't wear it. They were thowing away some of these women's "old lady" shoes. Yeah, that's what I gotta wear if I don't want a whole lotta pain.

My one splurge is my Coach handbag. It won't go with me to Disney, but it's my every day bag.

I agree! I've had spinal surgeries and can no longer wear anything with more than about a one inch heel. I also must have wide width due to nerve damage in my right foot/leg.

I am the same as you. My shoes may be ugly, (I have really cute/nice flats) but I have some fantastic bags! Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci............

I was disappointed that they didn't offer more choices to the ladies than high heels. They took their "old lady" shoes and replaced them all with heels.
I can't wear heels as a lot of people prob can't. (back issues). so...I was hoping they would show these ladies some really stylish flats and shoes that they could wear in real life.

also...every shoe makeover also got a makeup, clothes, and handbag makeover too;) so was it the shoe that made them look better or the head to toe redo:laughing:

I was not excited about the show at all...nothing really that we didn't already know. and they didn't show any stylish handbags. and after saying round girls shouldn't wear round bags they had a round girl at the end wearing a round bag:confused:;)

I thought the shoes were cute, but noticed the number of women who had a hard time walking in the heels.

I always think "what not to wear" is silly about this as well. I would never go for a makeover that insisted on uncomfortable shoes - and to me heels are uncomfortable.

Some women wear "old lady" shoes when they don't have to.

I have feet issues and will never be able to wear stilettos. Inserts in any shoe just compounds my problem. I know my feet well and what will work and will wear any stylish shoe that fits those parameters.

The fact that women often on these makeover shoes can walk a few feet in heels, surprises me.

No matter how much I practice, I look like frankenstein trying to maintain steady.

Kitten heels have been a perfect compromise--but I have to wear a shoe that is designed wide. Tapered toe on my air craft carriers is a big no-no.:scared1:

I have plantar fasciitis too but I totally enjoyed the show anyway and learned a few things.

Because of the show, I looked up the Cole Haan line of shoes that are built like a sneaker. They mentioned them to the woman who insisted on wearing sneakers to work. He gave her a pair of Cole Haan flat ballerina shoes instead.

Also because of the show, I'm on a mission to get a really nice pair of black knee length, wide calf leather (low heal but not flat) boots for the winter months!! I can't wait! It's a great idea and I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. I know they make some that would be good even with my plantar fasciitis. :thumbsup2

I would love to see a show where men where forced to wear 3 inch heels because it would "make them more attractive."

lol, I learned long ago that heels do not make me more attractive, since it is not attractive to keep falling on your rear end. :lmao:

Well, they do have make over shows for men but those men are usually forced to shave, cut their hair and wear a suit and sometimes even a tie. :)

It's not men's fault that women choose to wear high heels or that most people think they are attractive. Unless it was a man who invented them. I don't know. Then it WOULD be their fault! :thumbsup2

I have some of the Cole Haan Nike Air pumps and they are terriffic. But they are also close to $300 a pair for pumps. That's awfully expensive in my book.

Run to your local TJMaxx, I just picked up a pair of short boots for $40, pumps at $50.

p.s. the same short boots are selling at Bloomindale's for $240..I got brown from TJ, Bloomies has black

Good shoes (my definition: quality AND healthy for my back and feet) are worth alot and I don't have a problem paying for them.

Unfortunately, I bought the Cole Haan's and could not walk by the end of the day. Had high hopes as I like Nikes but they were a disaster for me.

I was not a fan of the Cole Hanns either! I expected them to be more tolerable, but they were very expensive and not that comfy!

I couldn't believe that they didn't consider any possibilities other than spike heels, except for the one woman who flatly refused to wear high heels. High heels cause so many health problems that I'm surprised they keep insisting on them as the only way to look good. :headache::rotfl:

I have around 12 pairs of the Cole Haan Collection heels with the Nike Air. I have paid from $40 to $150 for them on sale from Cole Haan, from their outlets, off eBay and from TJ Maxx and DSW. They are all I wear to work and I walk a lot downtown.

I love them and find them to be extremely comfortable.
