In 1717, Violinist, Composer and Conductor Johann Stamitz was born in the Czech Republic. He was the Director of the Mannheim School and instrumental in developing the style of composition and playing that became known as the Mannheim Steamroller.

The premier performance of Edward Elgar’s Enigma Variations at Queen’s Hall in London in 1899 (this piece has been used an A LOT of movie soundtracks – you’d recognize it if you heard it).

In 1902, Band Leader Guy Lombardo was born in London, Ontario.

Heart’s Ann Wilson was born on this day in 1950.

On this day in 1965, the Beatles recorded “Yesterday”.

In 1966, “Paperback Writer” by the Beatles reached Number One on the Charts.

In 1968, "Jumping Jack Flash" by the Rolling Stones reached Number 1.
