Going to the HRH:woohoo: & Universal for the first time!

BUT:

OK- we are v-e-r-y serious about saving $$ at breakfast. We used to buy the DD a kids breakfast in Disney for under $6 & we just ate cereal, fruit & bagels that we bought at Goodings.

I am told by all you helpful universalites that there is nowhere to do this on Universal resort property...so- will we look like total fools if we just bring our little cheap-o toaster? Is there room in a HRH standard room to plug it in?

We truly will spend money at lunch & dinner(after all, our DD soon to be Universal Daughter is having her dream fulfilled by celebating at Universal), promise!!

i wouldn't do that, bring an appliance from home to use in the room.

it was either last year or the year before, a man at hrh was using the iron and it over heated.

the sprinkler system went off on that floor.

lots of damage to the guests belongings, major trouble for the hotel.

just think if an iron that is steaming can set off the sprinkler system, an item in a toaster that gets too toasty or burnt could do the same thing.

if you don't want to spend money on breakfast, do what i suggested in the other thread i responded to you about eating in the room.
get a $4 styrofoam cooler, buy milk, cream cheese, etc. and have cereal or bagels and cream cheese in the room.

there are a lot more things to have for breakfast than something you have to use a toaster for.

i don't get it.

you can get a great breakfast for under $6 at city walk.
some places are open for breakfast at a walk up counter.
buy the food and eat at a table outside.

i'm not trying to offend you just think there are other things you could do for bfast.

you should look at the menu on line for kitchen items.
you don'
to have to go with the buffet.

::yes:: What Mac said! :thumbsup2

Pastamore serves a pretty reasonably priced breakfast at their walk-up counter! There are several Cinnabon's located throughout Universal, both at Citywalk and in the parks.

:goodvibes Thanks, Patster! I thought of the toaster because, in my last question on another thread, a few people suggested doing exactly that(and as they themselves do). In Disney, they have toaster, coffee pot & fridge swaps to use in rooms. We have never done any of that.

Thank you for giving me the names of couple of places in citywalk- we were not aware of Cinnabon nor did we know Pastamore had a walk-up counter for breakfast. That, plus our bagels & cereal will do the trick!
We are good to go!:donald:PS- do you ever use the unlimited cup?

If you don't want to bring a cooler, you can rent a fridge at the HRH. Ours only hold beer and liquor, but I would assume that they have special ones for milk and such. ;)

As for the toaster, don't do it. looking silly carrying a toaster into a very nice 4-star resort hotel would be the least of your worries, it is against the fire code regulations. The fire codes are there to keep everyone safe, please don't put everyone in the hotel at danger to save a few bucks!

Yep- as I have said above: we have never brought any appliances from homee & will not start now! We got suggestions of places to grab a little soemthing & will have our own snacks as well.
Thanks:thanks:

LOL~ last time I tired to quit smoking, my DH opened the door, threw a CARTON in, mentioned something about working in his shop all day and shut the door. :rolleyes1

*repeats to self, I will not smoke or be a pain in the butt. I will not smoke or be a pain in the butt. I will not smoke...... WHAT DO YOU WANT???* ;)

....now! :surfweb: Good luck :shamrock: & I hope you can keep it up. Here, no one talks to me in the morning until I've had a cup of coffee. My husband brings up a cup at 5:30, leaves the room, closes the door!

:tink:Thanks for reply

If you are referring to the the cups with the 69 cents refills, then yes, we finally did this past trip. That's an awesome deal!

Another way to save money is to buy bread, bologna, ham, cheese, etc. with chips. Pack the lunches in a backpack and bring them with you to the parks. We've done this a few times when staying off property with a large group.

WHOOOOOOO there---

Where is the unlimited cup of coffee at or refill or whatever it is for .69???

I have been trying to figure out my coffee situation at the RP.

Thanks for making sure my cup overfloweth....:)

The 69 cent cups I was referring to are for soft drinks at the parks.

There is a toaster down in Emack and Bolios. You may have to buy your food from there to use it though.

and for coffee lovers, save your coffee cup and get free refills there downstairs at hrh shhhhhhhhh

 :headache:

This is how I am without my coffee....

I was so excited by a good cup of coffee under a buck...

So Mac, by your post I am just dreamin'??? Or are you really saying there is a place at the HRH to get a cup of coffee refill? Sorry, it has been 10 hours since my last cup and I can't have another for 9 hours.....so I don't function well in that in-between time and can't figure out if you were "jokin' me" like my son would say...
