I lived in the UP for 4 years while my husband was stationed at KI Sawyer AFB. Being a California girl, if was a different experience. I really enjoyed it. Is it true that Sawyer is shut down?

Yes, KI has been shut down for awhile now. They have an international airport there and housing.

I'm glad they didn't let that housing go to waste, they has some really nice units.
It's hard to imagine KI not as an active base after spending 4 years there with mu husband flying on the aircraft getting ready war.
