Tomorrow, Friday November 13th 2009, is the annual To Write Love On Her Arms Day.
To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) is an not for profit organization that helps teens, or anyone, who are struggling with depression, suicide, or self hurting. They are a place where people can go to find different places they can get help. TWLOHA is not a helpline, but the middle man, the one who says its okay to get help. Through music, bands, the internet, tee-shirts, and word of mouth, they are slowly growing.
The story behind it is amazing. I will link to it because I think that everyone should read it. It's a story of hope, of friendship, of trust, of live, and of love. Renee, the girl the story is focused around and was really the reason why Jamie Tworkowski started this foundation, celebrated her 23rd birthday the other day. She is hope.
TWOLHA is an amazing charity. I really can't explain how much it means to me. Through blogs they've posted or songs they've linked to or just knowing that other people are out there struggling along side with me, they have helped me through some of the darkest times of my life. I wear their shirts proudly. With tomorrow being TWLOHA Day 2009 I wanted to spread the word and share with you guys.
Always remember, "rescue is possible" and "love is the movement".
