To wear capris or not to wear capris that is the question!

I know you're all probably sick of weather related questions, but I have another for you. I leave for Florida in one week (yay!) and I've been closely watching the weather, it seems this year it will be much cooler than what I'm used to when we go. So considering it can get pretty chilly at night, have the parks been warm enough to wear capris without freezing your butt off? On the weather channel it has been saying the lows are in the 50s, has it really gotten that cold at night? Thanks for your help!!! :)

I'm leaving next Tuesday (3/16) and I am from South Carolina, currently living in TX. I'll be in jeans. My husband and son will more than likely wear shorts. I cannot stand being cold. They keep all the indoor places AC'ed to the max. Then again, I've never been to NH, but it may feel quite balmy to you, even in the evenings!

I'm going next week and I'm taking capris & flip flops, but also a light sweater for nights.

We're leaving next Wednesday and I'm bringing mostly capris. You'll be ok with a light jacket or sweater at night. If the sun's out during the day it feels warmer than the actual temperature.

I wore capris last year in February when it was highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. I was quite comfortable as log as I had a sweatshirt too. (I also wore my Teva sandals.) I am from MN, though.

Hey there!! I was just in Disney last week and I will say, I was not packed appropriatly. I'm from New England so I'm used to cold weather (it was snowing while we were gone), but most days while in FL I wore jeans and sweatshirts (many days I didn't even wear flip flops). I would say it was about 55 during the day but got down to high 30s at night and it was very windy which made it chilly. I did get two days where I was able to roll my pants up in capris and shed my sweatshirt, but thats it and the nights were COLD. While we wore sweatshirts and shivered, many people were seen wearing winter coats. I would say bring the capris, but def. pack some clothes to keep you warm too!! Most important, HAVE FUN!!!! :)

I had a similar situation last year in the first week in December. For the first time ever, it got into the low 70's during the day and high 50's at night.

Now I can tell you, I work outside, so I can stand it when it is a bit on the chilly side - but it was too cold for me. I had one pair of capris and four pairs of jeans, and I wore jeans every night, except one.

I would say it depends where you're coming from and what the forecast will be for your trip. We leave on Saturday and it's been a very long, very cold winter here in Iowa.

So far our trip week forecast looks mainly sunny with highs in the low 70s and lows in the mid-50s.

For us that will feel fantastic and warm, so we're packing mainly t-shirts, capris and shorts. We all have a sweatshirt/jeans to wear on travel day and light windbreaker jackets for mornings/evenings.

I'm in training for a marathon and have to run 4 days while we're at WDW and I'm packing a tank top and shorts for my runs. Of course, I've been used to running in weather between 0-20 degrees, so I plan that even an early morning run with temps in the 50s will feel quite hot, especially on the longer runs.

It is warming up nicely down here during the day, but when the sun goes down it does feel chilly. Keep in mind that if there is humidity it will feel a little cooler than the actual temp. I would recommend taking some jeans in case you need to change in the evening.

It's definitely warming up -- finally -- and we went to a Spring Training Game at Wide World of Sports yesterday and the weather was durn near perfect. :-) People had everything from shorts and tank tops to long-sleeved shirts and jeans on. In the sun it was great (I wore capri's and a cotton shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbow) and when the breeze died down it was hot.
However, in the shade it still feels cool. It's been down in the mid to upper 50's overnight and once the sun goes down it's chilly. I'd definitely make sure to have a jacket or sweatshirt to slip on for the evenings for a while yet.
The weather has been very changeable lately and not as warm consistently as we've had other winters.

I've been keeping my eye on the FL weather and to tell the truth I'm praying the weather is finally on a warming up trend and we don't leave for another solid month. This is our first spring time trip, we usually go in early May but last May we thought we were gonna die. It was in the mid 90's the entire 9days we were there. This year we decided to try a more pleasant weather month, so we chose April. Never in a million years did I think the weather in FL would be so unseasonably cool. While I'm trying to remain positive and saying a lot could happen in a month. I've noticed that it is slowly creeping into the upper 60's and low 70's so by next month we should see temps in the upper 70's maybe even the low 80's and that would be ideally perfect for us Marylanders. With that said I'm now in the market for a zip-up hoodie myself to take on our trip just in case. Never hurts to be prepared.

I'm going to pretty much ditto disneydiva. We're from the Boston area and we were there Feb 26-March 6. The 6th was the warmest by far and I could have gotten away with wearing shorts and short-sleeved tee during the day. We left the park around 1, so it wasn't even at the highest temp yet. I think that is around 3pm.

The rest of the week was cooler. For temps in the low 60's, I wore long pants - jeans, or lighter cotton pants that could roll-up into capris if needed with a 3/4 length sleeve top or long sleeve top layered with a short-sleeve tee. In the cold morning and evening, I had a fleece under the inner liner of my columbia ski-type coat. My DH wore a 300 weight fleece jacket. The kids wore layered shirts, skirts with tights or leggings (I made 3 customs skirt/shirt outfits and they were wearing them!), or jeans. For outerwear, they had cardigan sweaters under Mini Boden fleece-lined anoraks. These jackets are warm enough for late fall/early spring up here, but not for harsh winters. For the warmer day that was stuck in there, I rolled up my pants to capris and had short sleeves. The kids both had on similar roll-up capri outfits.

I think that it really depends on how much actual sunshine you get during the day. The temp can say70, but that will feel like 2 different things on a cloudy day vs. a really sunny day.

We didn't have to buy anything like a sweatshirt to wear, but we saw lots and lots of people with Disney sweatshirts. I highly doubt they brought them from home. Save some $ and come prepared to dress in layers; especially if you start early or end late. Even 7pm was really cold on some nights! The phrase "record cold temperatures" was uttered by the weathermen more than once on the newscasts when we were there!

I live in Maine and it has been in the 50s here the past few days and I have been in shorts and a t-shirt! lol!

We will be in Disney World Sunday morning and I have also been watching the weather for a couple weeks. Looks like highs in the low 70's and lows in the 50's with 2 days of possible rain/showers. DH thinks I'm crazy for wanting to wear jeans, insists I'll be hot. For one thing, we don't plan to be in the parks in the middle of the day when it's the warmest. I'm packing jeans and 1 or 2 pairs of capris. MIGHT wear the capris in the morning until break and then change into jeans for the evening.

If you are used to cold weather where you are from, you will probably be OK in capris. But maybe bring some jeans and a light jacket too, just to be on the safe side. Wearing flipflops today but by the weekend it is going to get cold again (cold, of course, being a relative term).

Hope you have a nice trip with some good weather! :goodvibes
