To use the buses or not? ?s

We are driving to WDW. Staying at POFQ. We have one prepark opening ADR at MK. Wouldn't it just be easier to drive over ourselves? We will have our 9 and 5 year old with us. No stroller. One backpack.

I'm really curious how much time we would save if we drive ourselves to the parks everyday. Or if it's totally dumb to bypass the free transportation. Would love to hear what everyone does when they have their car with them.

Thanks.
When I park the car, that's it. Love going carless and carefree at Disney. It's part of a no worries relaxing vacation.

I haven't heard of this. Do they have them at all resorts/bus stops?

Not sure which resorts have them, we stayed at All Star Music last year and they were very accurate. It would actually change it the bus wasn't going to arrive by the time it stated it would. It was never off by more than a few minutes. You could always call the resort you're going to stay at and see if they already have them.

I enjoy taking the buses for one reason and that's to preserve the magic. I love going to WDW because it's like a week in another world. I don't see our car, I don't see outside places, and I don't feel like I'm anywhere but WDW. It's part of the magic to me. So I say take the buses. Plus parkint at MK is a hassle and and half.

. Absolutely hilarious!! This is exactly why we would never even think of taking a bus. But after reading many of these threads, it's clear the some people truly despise driving a car. It's very weird to me personally, but a lot would rather stand shoulder to shoulder on a bus with sweaty people to avoid driving. I know a few people at home like this, hate express ways in particular. I drive all day for work as a sales rep. I love it. And I've never experienced any craziness whatsoever with other drivers in Disney.

I've never stood shoulder to shoulder with sweaty people on the bus - but I have once gotten into a car that was so hot we couldn't breathe and had to get out, stand in the hot sun, and wait for the car to cool down, wasting gas while the AC was cranked.

Busses, all the way. Have stayed off property in the past (been a while). Even though we lived very close to MK, the whole process just took too long. Even when we tried driving from a Disney resort to the parks. Just our experience. Plus...Why stress? Let someone else take care of the driving. The only time I could see a good reason for driving, is if there were multiple strollers/wheelchairs that make loading and unloading a bit too stressful, or if you are anticipating having to leave Disney property on a moment's notice.

Driving yourself will almost always be faster. MK is the only one that can be an exception where the bus is faster, although when we tested it one year, car vs bus was just about a wash for MK for us. Staying at a MK resort is the only true exception for me, from those I would always use monorail or ferry.

Time and convenience aside, I actually really love arriving to MK via the ferry, especially on the first MK day of my vacation, I find it really helps build the excitement seeing the castle get closer and closer in your view.

If you want comfort, GO IN THE CAR. If you don't care about comfort (it's not that bad on the bus), take the bus. It's a lot faster, and you don't have to worry about finding it, when everyone is tired, and you have to look through thousands of cars for yours.

Funny story about bus comfort.

It was about midnight, and the bus was about full. Everyone was sweating, because it was so hot! Ironically, the bus driver had the radio on, and the song "So Darn Hot" came on. Everyone mumbled about agreeing with the song, and needless to say, the bus driver got the hint!
