To tell or not to tell?

I am not telling my kids they are 4, 5 and 8yrs old as I wouldnt hear the end of it til we were there. We are driving though and they know we MIGHT be going to the US to see my husbands side of the family and since they havent been there in 5yrs they couldnt remember the how long it would take as its about 10hrs anyways to get there

So we are leaving on July 26th at night driving (wether all the way or stopping) but yeah we are heading to my husbands unlces in FL 1st and told them to NOT say anything about Disney as the kids dont know. We are getting our rental place on the 28th thats when the kids will know where we are going LoL

I cant wait, I think its more magical :wizard: seeing the look on the kids faces when we get there as knowing all the way they might drive you nuts

Good Luck

I would suprise them. I wanted to do this with my wife. I was able to save about 2k without her knowing but, I still needed the money for the flight. Needless to say I could not figure out how to get that out of the bank without her knowing. So I had to tell her. :sad2: We ended up telling our 4 y/o son and now the time concept thing has bitten us. Guess I if I had a nickel for everytime I heard "Are we going to Disney World now?" I'd be real rich. LOL Anyway good luck and enjoy your trip.

I have been toying with the same thing for our DW trip. People have given me different opinnions.

Here is what I decided to do... We are going the end of Oct. They think we are going next summer when school is out. I am going to let them settle in the first week of school, then I am going to set up a treasure hunt in my house using a bunch of little Mickey dolls (hidden hehe). It will be corny, but for a 10, 7 and 5 year old, I think it will be great. We have done fun treasure hunts for fun in the past. So I am thinking this:

Go to the room where you love to cuddle most and you will find your 1st clue.

Clue 1: We have been planning Disney for next summer
but the extreme heat will be such a bummer. So we are still planning. Enjoy the "fruit snacks" as you continue your quest to the place where you would find an overnight guest . This is where you will find clue number two.

Clue 2: We thought we might try Easter in 2008 and we were thinking that it might be great. March isn't far but that would take even more money because of the high rates and soooo many more people at the gates. It just would not work. We are still planning and do not want you to get lost so pick up the new "matching Mickey tees" and carry them with you. What to do what to do that was clue number two. To find clue number three go to the place you want to be when you get hungry.

Clue 3: Trick or treat smell my feet give me something good to eat, or not. This may not be food but is a wealth of info. Take this "Disney for Kids" book for your final clue. For clue number 4, go to where you may only enter if you plan to read a book.

Clue 4: Now you are at the end of your measure where I hope you will find your treasure. Really think hard of WHO you want to be, for it is Mickey and Minnie you will see this year for your Halloween. Yes, that is right, we are going to Disney World for a 9 night stay during Halloween week!! (screams, yells, and tears for all. My parents will be there to witness as they are going with us. :))

OK. I know it is corny, but if you have feedback, I would appreciate it to make any changes.

So, in a nutshell, I would tell them a few weeks prior to enjoy the anticipation and readiness for the trip that you have planned for your family.

Good luck!!:upsidedow
