To Take an Infant to WDW...

I will add to this also. We took my daughter when she was 6-1/2 months old and it was wonderful. She actually loved every minute of the trip. At that age she normally took two naps a day plus she was in bed by 7:30 pm every night but not at Disney. She was taking everything in and looking at everything so much that she never napped all day the first day and she didn't go to sleep until about 9:00pm.

It was a wonderful trip!

Joel is going on his 5th trip next week, and he's almost 14 months old. We took him at almost 3 months, 4.5 months, almost 8 months, and almost a year. The first 2 trips were in December and February. His first trip he was covered up with light blankets most of the time, he always had a hat on, and we were diligent about keeping him out of the sun. Same thing in February- he didn't have a blanket on all the time, but he wore light pants every day (it was pretty warm that trip). Once he hit sunblock age we kept him in shorts and a hat, and blocked him up and still watched the amount of time he was uncovered. I've posted often about the baby centers, which are a godsend too!! They're a great place to nurse or otherwise feed the baby, the changing tables are high, big, and clean; you can wash your stuff too.
As far as the flights go, we've never bought our DS his own ticket, and only once did I have to hold him; we're flying on SW too, out of PVD or MHT!!! If you're able to get $59 flights and you want to make sure your baby has a seat, just book one of those.

I saw the $59 fares for our departure, but I wanted to wait to make sure we were truly going...
By the time I went to book they were $89. Still deeply discounted, but *sigh*... $60 between the two of us that would have been better spent in Disney!

I like PPs suggestion though of sitting aisle/window and hoping for the best... Although we may be bringing the carseat & gate checking it...

We shall see how the mood strikes us when we leave, lol.

Just check that your car seat is FAA approved. I don't think you can use every car seat on the plane. We just bought the 5-1 sit & stroll car seat and bought dd her own ticket for our next trip.

I know this topic has been presented probably a million times over, but I'm hoping maybe I could get a few thoughts...

DH and I saw the commercial for the buy 4 get 3 promo tonight, and we've started discussing the possibility. In actuality, we may not book until December when we have a better grip on our finances, but the even bigger question for us is whether or not we would bring our infant daughter with us.

We would ideally be travelling the first week of February (to take advantage of DH's birthday on 2/6), and our daughter would be just over 4 months old. When we do book the trip, we wouldn't necessarily need to make a decision about her right away, as she is not costing anything else on this trip (she'll sit on our laps in the plane).

But, for those of you who are experienced in such travelling, what are some of the pros & cons to bringing such a young infant?

I did this THREE TIMES. I loved it! I nursed while there, which is more convenient than taking bottles.

Actually, I made sure to check before I called SW regarding the infant fares, lol.

It says right on the side, "Safe for motor vehicle and aircraft use." or something to that effect.

Our last trip we brought our 4 daughters, ages.....12 (legally blind), 4, 3 & baby was 4 months.......she was THE easiest out of them all! LOL!
She LOVED Cinderella at the princess breakfast and looked like a real doll in costume. The pics are priceless. I had her stroller and a sling and she slept, nursed and smiled the entire trip!

Yeah! Glad to hear you are taking your baby!! It will be such a fun trip with some great photo-ops you will treasure forever!!!

And at 4 months...it may be the EASIEST trip you will ever have with her!!! My DD had her first trip at 14 months and DS was 5 months on his first trip. He was so easy!! We carried him mostly in the BAby Bjorn carrier and he loved looking at EVERYTHING! The baby care centers are great for some quiet time with baby and to feed.
