Ok heres the deal. We are scheduled to payoff on Saturday. Currently we are booked at POP for 6 nights/7 days. I got to looking at the Moderates and Im thinking that for 232.00 more we should look at switching. What do you all think? And which moderate would you suggest for 2 adults and 2 kids(8 and 6) Thanks for you help.

I would vote to switch to a moderate. It is really nice to have some additional activities right at your resort-especially with children your age. If you go with a moderate you will get a nicer pool with a water slide. Also, depending on where you stay, you may have access to bikes, water crafts, cane pole fishing, etc. We like to spend a lot of time at our resort. If we do the parks commando style we all get very cranky. It is worth the price difference for us to go moderate or deluxe.

Have you thought about splitting your stay? You could stay at Pop for a few nights, I bet your kids would love all the giant icons, then move over to a mod for the last 3 or 4 nights. POR is very pretty and the kids would have access to 2 main pools since its a sister reosort to POFQ. CSR has the really cool dig site.
Take a look here at Debs site a the pictures and facts about each one

I tend to agree with 4greatboys. I'm an avid fan of split stays. Your children are good ages to lend a hand and join in the fun of "two vacations in one"! I'd do POP first and then the moderate. And who knows, if you could get a really good AAA rate, maybe you could do POP and a couple days at WL or AKL. :goodvibes It would be worth a phone call. :teeth:

Another vote for splitting your stay! We always do it, its very easy, and you get 2 different experiences...almost like 2 vacations in one :teeth:
And as previously mentioned if you can snag a discount on AKL or WL (but try for AKL :flower: ) it wont be that much of a difference. Your kids will probably love POP wit the HUGE icons and the giant pools, and then you can kick it up a notch :sunny:

Another vote for either splitting your stay or upgrading to mod!

We did Sports in Nov. '03-granted we were there for 11 days!-but the food court just did me in at the end of park day!

I'm going for POFQ for the compactness.

Question for the others that voted for split stay-

Have you ever split your stay without a rental car to get to the second resort? Considering 'Magical Express' is free transfers (you can't beat free if you're using one of the participating airlines anyway!) to and from the airport, I was wondering if I was going to use WDW transportation to change resorts. It's not the easiest thing to do-use WDW trans. to get from one resort to the other. :flower:

Thanks for your help :) We have decided to switch, and after several hours of looking at web sites and pictures, we have decided on CSR. Next year we are going to try splitting since we will have a better idea of what to expect all around since this will be our first trip.

Thanks again :)

While I'm not a fan of splitting your stay between resorts, I did so recently because I was there on business. We stayed at POR and moved to CR.
( IMO unpacking and repacking and unpacking and repacking, etc.etc. is too time consuming and tiring when I'm on vacation.)
Transportation to a new resort isn't a problem. We just took POR bus to MK and got on the monorail to CR. So you should just take the bus to any park and then get the bus there to your new resort (if you don't have a car).

Yes, I'm not looking forward to the re-packing either, but I made a promise to my sons that I'm trying to keep! It's just me and 3 boys and they live in bathing suits while we are there.

I've never seen anyone with suitcases on the buses, but if it saves renting a car-so be it!

Thanks!

Pershing,
You don't need to take your suitcases on the bus. They will transport them from your first Disney Resort to your second Disney Resort if you let guests services know you are changing resorts. You just need to get to your second resort choice and check-in, then when your room is ready, call for your bags. :goodvibes

Now if I would have know that I would have looked into splitting lol. Guess I should have asked  Oh well, maybe next time. :flower:

Sorry, guess I didn't make myself clear. We got on the bus to the new resort after bell services picked up our luggage to take to the new hotel.
No one would switch if they had to take luggage on the bus, lol.
