To split stay or not...that is the question

This is a very long story so I will try to make it as short and simple as possible. We (DH, DD3 and myself) decided a couple of months ago to do a 4 night stay in Sept. We wanted to do either BW or AKL standard view. Neither was open for all 4 nights so I did 2 at OKW and 2 at AKL and waitlisted the 2 at OKW for BW. Then all 4 came available at AKL so we booked that instead but I forgot about my waitlist at BW (which I really wanted to stay at). Now by chance our waitlist for BW came through. Which leaves us with 2 nights AKL, 2 nights BW. Whew!!! So would you leave it or just go for all 4 nights at AKL (which is still available). I should add that we are not going to the parks. Just Sea World one day and maybe the Halloweeen Party one night. We have done a split stay before and I thought it went really smooth but my husband hates to pack and unpack. So now I turn to you DISer's in all your infinate wisdom to help us decide.

oh and p.s. we haven't stayed at either resort.

We do split stays all the time but there are some rules that we really try to stick to. We have decided that our minimum for resort nights before a switch is 3 unless it can absolutely not be avoided. It doesn't feel like you can really appreciate resort unless you have three nights there. We used to feel like we wanted to try everything as soon as possible but we now realize that our DVC commitment goes for many years. If we don't get to try a desired resort on a trip we know that there will always be future trips to try it out.

Since you haven't stayed at either, I would suggest just sticking with the one (AKL) and see how you like it. There is plenty to do thre. Head over to Kidani and try out the pool/water area there. I'm sure your little one will love it! Explore the resort and enjoy the animals. I would give BWV a try on another trip :)

With a three year old, it makes a lot of sense to stay in one location for the entire trip. You might not be able to check into your new location until after 4PM (maybe even as late as 5 or 6PM). If your daughter wants to nap, where are you going to do that? What will you do to fill your day when you are homeless for the day?

This is very true. Each time we try a new resort (BLT, VWL, BCV, OKW, HHI) I always say this is my new favorite, so I am so excited to do them all but yes we do have this membership for 50 years so I do need to pace myself. Point well taken and I am sure I will have a happier husband and 3 yr old because she will be able to get in a good nap. Thanks for the advice!!!

I agree with Deb. 4 nights is too short to split and being homeless while waiting for your second room to be ready is a pain. Stay all 4 nights at one resort and make life easier on yourselves! :goodvibes
