We are thinking of spliting our next trip between two resorts. Please tell me about any good or bad things that have happened to you.Thanks. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Go Steelers!!!

Splitting is easy, just make sure you spend a significant amount time at either resort, or it will feel rushed. I reccomend a 3/3 split. 3 nights at one resort and 3 nights at another.

We are splitting our stay in october. Four nights at YC and four nights at CR. We are doing epcot and mgm and dinging at epcot when we are at YC. We are doing MK and AK and hoop dee doo when we are at CR. I got the idea of splitting from these boards. I am looking forward to it.

I concur. Our trips in 2002 and 2003 were split stays (AKL/YC both times). In 2002, we only stayed at AKL 2 nights before leaving. Even though we were then at YC for 4 nights, the first few days of the trip were such a blur and we never felt we got settled in anywhere. Next year, we did do it 3/3 and it was much better. Thus, the longer you can stay at both resorts, the more enjoyable the stay will be.

We are splitting our 10 day trip (in mid-May) up into Port Orleans Riverside, then Port Orleans French Quarter.
Last year we did 5 nights at the Swan and 4 nights at AKL.
If you are staying for any length of time, it is a great way to go and breaks up the monotony of staying in one room. We pack light and rent a car so it is an easy process for us.
Go for it.

I am probably in the minority and please don't let how I feel change your plans but I just wanted to let you know our feelings about switching resorts mid-trip. I am taking the other side of splitting. We split our stay for the first time 2 weeks ago - 5 nights at the Dolphin & 5 at AKL. We split because I could not get any of the resorts that I wanted at a discount. We talked about it and thought it would be fun to spend 1/2 our time in an Epcot resort and the other 1/2 at a relaxing resort like AKL. After the trip we discussed it and neither my DH nor I enjoyed splitting our resorts. We felt we had no time to really enjoy either resort - plus we didn't unpack at either resort - we just grabbed stuff out of suitcases and I hated that. I prefer to unpack and put everything away when I get there but I didn't want to unpack, pack, unpack and repack again. I just never felt settled in at either one of the two places. We could have had all 10 days at CBR but I wanted to go with one of the lower level deluxe (ALK or WL) and we got the Dolphin at government employee rate which was very reasonable. DH and I now agree that we would have been happier staying at CBR the entire 10 nights rather than splitting.

We always end up splitting up our stay. We are DVC members but weekend points are killers so we end up staying Fri & Sat at one resort--we usually try different ones then stay Sun-Thur nights at our DVC resort then we hop over to Universal and stay in one of their resorts for a night or 2. We never have had any problems with it and FWIW we dont usually take all our stuff our of the suitcases anyway. We take clean clothes out of it and keep the dirty ones in a bad til we do laundry or pack them up to head home.
Bell services makes it so easy to change resorts just give your suitcases to them and they will take them to your new resort.

We are big fans of splitting a longer stay (6 days or more). But then again, it's usually only the two of us. The times we have taken our daughter and grandkids, we usually stay put in one resort. However, if no availability or discounted rates forced us, we wouldn't hesitate to split a stay even with them along. I think it's like getting twice the magic! :wizard:

We just got back from a nine night trip and we split our stay 3 ways!

We spent the first three nights at POP Century during the marathon weekend on a room only code. We arrived on Friday night, had dinner and went to bed. Saturday we spent the morning at the marathon expo, and the afternoon doing some shopping and relaxing at the resort. Sunday morning was the 1/2 marathon and the afternoon was napping and swimming then MGM.

Monday morning we checked out, left our bags to be transfered and headed to Magic Kingdom.

We did a Gifts of a Lifetime Scavenger Hunt that spent the morning in the MK, headed over to Epcot and ended up with us checking into the Beach Club for 2 nights. DH wanted to stay here, but it's not really in our budget, but by getting codes for rooms at POP, the Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge I could wangle 2 nights.

Tuesday we spent the morning at Epcot and the afternoon and evening at the resort.

Wednesday morning we relaxed at the resort and then had luggage assistance move our bags to wildnerness lodge while we were out sightseeing.

Having luggage services tranfer our bags was great because we didn't have to worry about them.

We unpacked at all 3 resorts, although we really only unpacked what we needed at POP and the Beach Club, at the Wilderness Lodge we unpacked everything.

This trip was as much to experience the resorts as the parks, so we were spending lots of time just hanging round, so didn't feel rushed. But if you are going to be doing a lot of park time and trying to enjoy your resort then splitting may not work for you.

We will probably always split our stays now but between 2 resorts not 3. The first half in POP or a moderate, so that we can then spend the remainder of our stay at WL. And every once in a while we will splurge.....DH wants to try Boardwalk one day.
