To See The Dreams Swirl in My DD's Eyes... Priceless! Sept. 2010 TR

what a beautiful room!!!! My friends and I stayed there back in 2008 for the closing of Pleasure Island weekend and we also booked a Standard room and were in the building next to the gift shop with a view of the courtyard! It was in Sept and I'm sure they weren't booked so maybe that's why but it was a great location..also on the first floor!

I love the decorations too :)

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and things have calmed down!

I'm so happy that everything went well with Ashlyn. It must be a big relief to know that you don't have to worry about that anymore!

What a beautiful room! Well worth the hassle, certainly! It sounds amazing, with the ferry going by! I completely understand about the carriage ride...it is definitely something more intimate.

Cute decorations! Did you just tape the one onto the window? I have this big fear of using tape on the windows...there was a point where they were telling people they had to take down all window decorations! I have some for our room, but I'm unsure about how to put them up!

Can't wait to hear about dinner!

Thanks! It all worked out just perfectly. :goodvibes

I bet a courtyard view would be beautiful, too! I think because we went in Sept. and booked 6 months in advance that it's why we got such a great room, too. :goodvibes

Well, when I last left off we had just seen our beautiful room and were going to head off to dinner. We had decided early on to head on down to

21SeptDowntownDisney1.jpg

We took the ferry boat from POFQ to DTD, which we were really looking forward to. It was a beautiful ride.

21SeptOntheferryboatfromPOFQtoDowntownDisney1.jpg

Now, Aaron is in the Navy, as some of you know. He's big into harbor defense (he's the harbor guy in the training department, actually) and now talks about going to Florida after he retires from the Navy and driving the ferry boats.

We had reservations at one of our favorite places.

21SeptRainforestCafeatDTD1.jpg

We always just have so much fun there. I was a little nervous that Ashlyn would be scared of the rainstorms this time around, but she did really well. She acted a little nervous and held my hand during the first one, but was okay with the ones after that. She loved the animals and making their noises. Especially the elephants.

21SeptRainforestCafeatDTD11.jpg

We made a fairly early reservation so we could have plenty of time to shop and look around before Ashlyn's bedtime. We got a few things but I actually never got my 4 Parks, 1 World CD. But there's always Amazon! ;) We just had fun looking at all the details and taking some fun pictures.

It's starting to look like Aurora is passing Ariel as Ashlyn's favorite! She's ALWAYS asking for her Aurora dolls!

21SeptDowntownDisney6.jpg

She just loved the statues.

21SeptDowntownDisney7.jpg

Especially Mickey and Minnie at the Pin Traders store!

21SeptMickeyandMinniestatueatthePinTradingstoreatDTD3.jpg

Oh, I loved Pin Traders! I didn't end up doing any pin trading (my in-laws were already just sitting outside waiting so I didn't want to keep them waiting longer than necessary) but I got some great pins! I even found the Figaro one I was hoping to get. :thumbsup2

We really enjoyed just walking around, listening to the music (there was a performer there, but I really couldn't tell you his name... he did covers of songs... and Ashlyn was just rocking out!), and we stopped to have a milkshake at Ghiradelli (I'd have to look at the menu to remember what exactly we had but it had chocolate and caramel). It was SO. GOOD. After our wonderful snack, we headed back to the room to relax and have a good night's sleep.

It sounds like you had a great time at DTD.

Too funny that your DH wants to drive the ferry when he retires. DH works for FedEx and drives a truck all day and his goal is to drive the vehicles on main street when he retires! How funny would that be if we both ended up in Orlando when we were old, with our husbands driving disney vehicles for a living? :lmao:

I'm glad that Ashlyn wasn't afraid of the rainstorms, I know you were worried about that! And I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner!

Shopping sounds like fun. I never even thought about those statues...DD is going to be so excited about them. Giant Dolls! ;) Ashlyn looks so cute looking at all of them!

It sounds like you had a lot of fun in the pin trading shop! I can browse those pins forever, they're all so cute and they're so small that there are so many! I'm glad you found the pin you were looking for!

It sounds like a great way to spend an evening!

So glad everyone is feeling better.:)

What a lovely view from your room. We love POFQ and stayed in building 5 last trip. DTD is so much fun and a great way to start your trip. You're b-day sign is adorable.

Yay! I didn't realize you had started a trip report! I can't wait to hear more.:cool1:

I like that POFQ put that Mickey on your bed...POP didn't do that

We ate at Rainforest also, I was afraid my son wouldn't like the storm either. Liek your daughter, he totally surprised me and enjoyed it!

So glad you started with the updates!!
POFQ looks so pretty & peaceful!
I love getting to go to DTD...so fun there!!
SOunds like a great start to your trip! :thumbsup2

You're right, I was worried about that. Like I said, she was a little nervous at first but got used to it all very quickly.

With the statues I figured even if she ended up not liking the real characters, at least I'd have pictures of her with some.

I totally agree with you... I could spend forever looking through pins, too! They're all cute and some have the cutest little details! We got one with Stitch riding a ship from Peter Pan's Flight and the ship itself moves side to side. Very cool!

looks like a good night!!!

It was definitely a lot of fun. :goodvibes

Thank you! :)

The view was definitely a wonderful surprise. I had heard from a few people that building 5 was one of the best. I'm so glad that we were able to get it.

Sorry I haven't been posting, but I wanted to let you know I started my TR!

Take Small Children By The Hand...a Sept Trip Report

Great, thanks! I'll go check it out soon. :thumbsup2

Yay! I didn't realize you had started a trip report! I can't wait to hear more.:cool1:

I'm hoping to post an update soon. But Aaron had to go to work for a little bit and Ashlyn's trying to get into everything, so it might take longer than I would want it to. :rotfl:

We got a towel animal during one of our stays at Pop, but no Mickey to greet us. It was a great welcome.

I'm so glad that your son enjoyed RFC, too! :goodvibes

So glad you started with the updates!!

POFQ really was very peaceful. It was so quiet. The only noise we heard at night was one night when we heard the horse-drawn carriage go by. And that was just charming. :)

I love DTD, too. I really hope one day we'll be able to take a long enough trip where we can dedicate more time there.

Let's see, last I left off we had a wonderful time at DTD and headed back to our room to drift off to sleep and dream about the next day. :cloud9:

We set our alarm for 7 but we usually never have to rely on our alarms because Ashlyn will wake up between 6:30 and 7 every morning. She's the cutest little alarm clock I've ever had! The morning went smoothly enough. I can't remember exactly what time we left the room, but it wasn't too late. We had a reservation at 9:15! There wasn't much of a line at the bus stop and we waited maybe 5 minutes before the Magic Kingdom bus came! :cheer2:

Of course when we got there we had to take some pictures at the entrance (you can see the Mardi Gras beads Ashlyn got as we headed out the doors of POFQ... she LOVED that!).

22SeptMagicKingdom2-1.jpg

We took our time a little, took a few pictures and headed to our breakfast. We had reservations at Crystal Palace!

22SeptCrystalPalace2.jpg

This was our first time there and it was great. We found out that Ashlyn wasn't afraid of the characters this time (with one exception), but she didn't want to go up to them by herself. Then once they were going to leave, she didn't want them to! :lmao: We were only seated for a couple of minutes when Eeyore came by!

22SeptEeyoreatCrystalPalace.jpg

I'm glad that Eeyore came by first because Ashlyn was a little intimidated by him. He was her least favorite in March, too. I don't know... maybe it's the nose? :confused3

I believe Piglet was next. She's always shown interest in Pooh and didn't really show feelings one way or the other about Piglet, but she ended up loving this cuddly, pink character!

22SeptPigletatCrystalPalace.jpg

Then I'm pretty sure Pooh was next. She  Pooh. She didn't really know what to do when he came by, she still was a little shy, but she wouldn't stop saying his name when she first saw him coming and when he walked away. It's like she was starstruck when he was at our table or something. :cutie:

22SeptPoohatCrystalPalace.jpg

Then Tigger... this was my favorite interaction at CP. Mainly because I put Ashlyn down and told her to show Tigger her bouncing. She held my hands (she feels more comfortable jumping higher when she holds my hands and I guess she wanted to show Tigger her BEST bounces) and just bounced away. Tigger clapped for her. :lovestruc I wish, wish, WISH we got video of that but I think Aaron had been getting food and when he got to the table he was getting the autograph book ready. This picture came from my in-law's camera.

CIMG2483-1.jpg

Anyway, between the five of us we tried almost everything there. The breakfast pizza was really good. Ashlyn loved the Mickey waffles (mainly because it was shaped like Mickey, of course) but was just all about the fruit. She's a bit obsessed with grapes at the moment. Which reminds me, I need to pick some up at the store this weekend. But that's neither here nor there. ;)

Oh, every so often they do a little friendship parade where all the kids march and follow the characters around the restaurant. Of course I walked with Ashlyn and she had fun (not sure she really realized what we were doing, though. She's too short to see that Eeyore was way up ther.e :rotfl:). There was a little girl around her age that was too scared to go by herself and Ashlyn stopped to try and hold her hand and march with her. It was so sweet. I was very proud of my little girl for trying to march with the little girl.

When I called 6 months ago and made the reservation, I mentioned that we were celebrating Ashlyn's 2nd birthday. So guess what came out at the end of breakfast...

IMG_5438.jpg

A birthday cupcake!!! Very cool. We all took a bite or two because, well, we were full and it was a little early for almost-2-year-olds to have cupcakes. :rotfl2: I know, it's Disney and you can have cupcakes for breakfast, but I knew she would have enough sugar as the day went on. :) She also got a birthday card signed by the Hundred Acre Wood gang!

IMG_5833.jpg

I just thought that was too cool. Well, that's it for now, but I'll be back with more soon!

awww What a great update!!! I'm eating there for the first time next week and I'm pretty excited about it!!! We're going for dinner though so I hope the food is good! Glad to see there weren't any tears at the meal!

Great update of MK breakfast! We really enjoyed CP too for breakfast & lunch! We ate there 3 times on our trip! :)

Hi there! I'm going to join you all on this trip report ride! Looks like you guys have been having a great time already! I've never eaten at Crystal Palace (Disney shameful secret- I don't really like the Pooh characters ), but it looks like fun! My DH is navy also and we just moved from Jacksonville last summer. Where are you guys stationed now?

I'm so glad you joined in! :) There's no shame in not liking certain characters... Ashlyn's totally not a fan of Eeyore! We are stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba right now. How about you guys?

Oh my, what a wonderful breakfast! I'm so glad she wasn't afraid. SO cute that she bounced for Tigger. That melts my heart! And I love that she tried to get the other little girl to join the parade. She seems like the sweetest baby ever!

Yummy birthday cupcake bright and early in the morning! And I love the card. That reminds me that I need to add J.J.'s birthday to our reservation at garden grill. Thanks for the reminder!

And Sydney is obsessed with bananas. If it's not one thing, it's another!

Sounds like a great breakfast! I love Crystal Palace!

I'm late to the party but glad the doctor's appt went well! Sounds like your room was great!
