To rent or not to rent?

We rarely rent one, but I can see the benefits of having one! We use Disney transportation and think it works great. But a car would be very handy to have when going from hotel to hotel, or from a park to Downtown Disney.

(I tried going from Epcot to DTD last year and nearly lost my mind! Very frustrating. No direct transportation from the parks to DTD; you have to take a bus or monorail to one of the resort hotels, then transfer to a bus to DTD. It took me over an hour before I gave up!)

I say, if you don't mind the expense, it's very handy to have a car. Totally depends on what you plan to do.

I went with my fiance in 2001 and drove down with my parents. We stayed at OKW and never moved the van the entire trip. Then on our honeymoon (in 2002:love: ) we used a town car service from the airport to the WL and we relied on the DTS. It wasn't too bad except we ate at a lot of other resort restaurants and commuting from resort to resort via the DTS is HORRIBLE! :furious: If, however, you do not plan on "resort hopping", the DTS is GREAT :thumbsup2 We never waited more than 30 minutes for a bus/boat even when the parks closed. I'm sure the time of year had a lot to do with it (Feb 2001, Sept 2002). When we go again in 2007, we plan on renting a car because I don't want to deal with any more lines than I have to with my 2 and 4 yr old DD's
