To Rent, or Not to Rent - I am puzzled

Trying to decide if it is worth it to rent a golf cart or not. Now I have read many posts, and have heard loud and clear that carts are extremely helpful to get around the fort.

Here is my situation though... We are staying in a preferred loop, which I believe would only be in either loops 100, 200, or 300 (someone please correct me if I am wrong). We are only at the Fort for five days, four of which we plan on spending the majority of time in the parks. I believe these loops are in easy walking distance from the marina and transportation.

We have decided to bring along a family friend and my sister, both of whom would fly to Orlando and meet us there. So we are having the additional costs of their airfare plus park tickets. Neither are in a position to be able to take this trip on their own, and we are happy to help them out. But it does add quite a bit more cost to this trip.

With their addition, and the six members of my family, we'd need to rent a six-seat cart. I am just not sure that we'd use it that much since we will be at the parks most of the time. I'd rather not take on extra costs if it is not justified.

Was hoping to the thoughts of experienced Fort folks. Thanks in advance.

Under those circumstances I'd rent for the 1 day or not at all.

You are correct the Preferred loops are 100-300.

If you are in the parks all but one day then go with what Denise said (get the cart for 1 day) or not at all. It's not worth it to have just to drive to the external bus stops or marina. Given your location, you can walk to the marina and boat to the MK and boat/monorail it to EPCOT. Or take an internal bus to the check-in area and get an external bus to the Parks.

Looping the one night you have the cart and going to the Campfire/Singalong and/or Meadow Trading Post might be worth it.

We're bike/walk people ourselves but I understand in your case with fliers that's not an option.

PS-Seriously, only one day at the Fort??????? :confused3

We just left the fort and rented for the first time in years of going to the fort. It was a blast but not cheap. In your case 1 to 2 days would give you all the fun and trans. you would need to rember the experence.

We spent Halloween weekend (plus) at the Fort and rented a GC for the first time for one day. We really enjoyed riding to TE, and a full night of looping. It was a lot of fun, and though expensive, I think worth if for a day.

Notice the OP mentioned a 6 passenger cart. Disney does not have such a beast, and I don't think the outside vendors rent for a day at a time. So, OP, your choice really boils down to renting two carts from Disney for a day. Disney does not rent for partial days, and you cannot fit 6 adults on a 4 passenger cart. But the other posters are correct, it is a GREAT way to get around the Fort and really see everything.

Enjoy your stay.

Good point on the 6-seater Ken.

Okay, it looks like we are an exception, but we don't usually rent a golf cart. Once in awhile, we will rent one for a day and go looping, but usually we walk.

We don't usually rent either. We've been in the 100, 200 and 500 loops, and walking to the marina is no problem. Getting an internal bus really isn't that big of a deal either, and we've even walked to the outpost once (took us about 15 min). If you're going to spend the majority of your time in the parks, I don't think its worth the cost.
