To Rent a Car or not...

Once we are on Disney Property we do not leave however we do not rent a car but do take taxis for situations for convenience reasons only. For the couple of times we need the taxi during each trip the cost for us is far cheaper to take taxis than rent a car for the week

We usually take cabs in the following situations..We typically stay at the beach club.

After wishes we walk to the contemporary and take a cab back to the beach club.

On our way back from downtown disney

or if we have an early tour, breakfast or dinner that is not near the boardwalk/beach club area.

I would evaluate your plan for the week and factor in when you would need a car and if it pays to rent one..if its only a handle full of times then I would go with getting taxis.

I think I have decided not to rent. I am going solo so it isn't a need for getting kids to and from in a timely fashion. Also. I am a vacation imbiber. Not to great extents, but more than my almost NEVER at home. And I am an absolute no drinking and driving sort of person. So that precludes going back to the resort and getting a tasty beverage and relaxing in the room and then going out. I don't have to worry about slightly buzzed bus riding. :rotfl:

I can enjoy my Pina Colavas and my Reisling and let someone else do the driving. I'll just make sure I walk over to the main depot at POR to catch the bus in the morning.

Where's the 'like' button?

Good thinking, have fun!!

Even without kids, having a car is really convenient. It allows you to explore those wonderful offsite restaurants they're always talking about on the podcast, and some of them are well worth the trip, as is that awesome bagel shop I have to thank Kevin for (Delish). The competition must be crazy fierce in MCO, too, as no matter what the time of year, getting a rental is crazy cheap for us.

I'm way too type A to not have a car. I have gone several times solo and WDW has some of the best signage. I have never had any trouble navigating around there. For Disapalooza I have a mid-size vehicle through Alamo for 8 days @ $115. So worth it.
