If it is cool out, we poncho. If it is hot, we don't poncho. I stay cool until my clothes dry!

I have about a dozen Animal Kingdom hats, because my hair got drenched and had to be covered up!

For dry feet, we each wear old socks with holes and bring a new, dry pair. We throw our shoes and dry socks in the center and just walk out in our old (possibly wet) socks, take them off and throw them out. Then we put on the clean, dry socks and shoes. :)

Whenever someone has a bad pair of socks around here, they bring them to me for storage. I hear, "Mom, I have some Animal Kingdom socks." :teeth:

Wet clothes are fine, but wet feet are a PITA.

my DD wears a ponco and I usually rip on ( dollar store ) open and place it over my lap and my DH lap. I do not mind getting pretty wet just not soaked !

I hate walking around in wet denim and that is all i wear.

No ponchos here. It's all a part of the fun and excitement - even if it means bad hair for the rest of the day! :rotfl2:

I hate getting wet on rides, so the first time I rode this I did wear a poncho. It kept me somewhat dry, but I was still very wet.

That was several years ago. I haven't done it since and have no desire to do it again.

I don't wear a poncho when I'm on it...but I usually go in the summer. I'll be there in Dec. this year, so I may try using a poncho. The last time I rode this ride (about a year ago) no one got wet and the ride seemed shorter. The first time I rode it (a year before that) me and my friend got soaked. I was disappointed when no one got wet. I thought that was the point of the ride.

Last year when we went, I was one of a couple of people on the raft that got totally soaked. I've been on Grizzly at California Adventure and got wet, but this was more like someone standing above me and dumping a whole bucket of water on my head. It was fun at the time, but I was miserable for the rest of the day. It took forever to dry off. I may think about a poncho this year. I would suggest maybe doing it as the last thing before you exit the park if you don't want to do the poncho.

Only if it is really cold out. In the hot summer months it is a lot nicer to get wet. Besides, only one person on the ride gets completely soaked, two others get wet and the three remaining are relatively dry. I guess it all depends on how lucky you are.

For those that don't want to bother with those bulky reusable ponchos, you can buy the disposable ones that others have mentioned. If you have a Wal-Mart near you, you can find them in the Sporting Goods section (with the other camping stuff). They are clear and in little plastic pouches. Here (Memphis) they are about 0.76/each. And they are small enough to put into a bag or pouch. Hope that helps. :goodvibes

I'd say it depends on the weather and if you're high maintenance or low maintenance. If it's hot or if it's raining/looks like it'll rain, I'd say don't worry about it. You'll either dry quickly or you'll already be wet or about to get wet, so why bother with the hassle of a poncho. If it's cold out, poncho up because cold and wet = unhappiness at WDW and nobody wants that!

If you don't want to mess up your hair, makeup, etc. go ahead with the poncho. If you're one of those happy go lucky types that don't care what you look like as long as you're having fun (as my friends and I from my internship called it - The Wet Butt Club - inspired by Splash Mountain [on a side note, I originally typed Splace Mountain - an interesting combo of Space and Splash] where it doesn't matter where you sit, you'll always exit with a wet butt) don't worry about the poncho.

Keep in mind - denim is always uncomfortable wet, spare underwear can be kept in a bag just in case you need to change yours (same with a shirt in case you're wearing a white shirt the first time around), I'd always keep a plastic bag for any electronics. If you do get soaked, spend a little time drying off before seeing anything indoors with a/c - I went to see Festival of the Lion King after getting doused on KRR and was too busy shivering to fully enjoy the show.

Persoanally, I've never used a poncho. I just wring out my shirt as best I can and throw the hair back in a pony tail.

Nope! We do bring spare clothes though: Shorts, shirt, socks and undies and do all the water rides at once if possible so we can change afterwards if necessary. I found the water rides in Universal worse than any at Disney for getting you wet, even with the sun drying you off you can be damp for quite a while.

We don't wear ponchos on it (we hardly wear them in the rain-too hot & humid for us).

I want to get wet when going on Kali, to cool off, since we go in September. But I understand how some people don't like walking around wet.

I hate those plastic ponchos - they're designed from hell! LOL - they're so dagone hot, I won't even wear one in the rain, I'll just use an umbrella if we encounter a rain shower. So, no, I won't wear one on Kali - part of the fun is getting wet (although I'm come off dry as a bone sometimes!).

Everyone in our family, except DH, decided to wear our poncho's when we rode this back in Sept 2002. Those of us with poncho's stayed fairly dry, but DH got soaked.
I can say after about 2 hours, DH was not liking :sad2: the fact that he was still wet and it was humid outside, so he wasn't drying off.

If you decide not to wear ponchos, bring extra clothes to change into.
