To My Irish Friends - Help !!

Hey Guys

I usually start a thread when it's St. Patrick's Day, St. George's Day etc. Now I know that St. Patrick's Day is usually 17th March - but when I looked into it today, it appears that the Catholic Church has changed the date this year as it clashes with Holy Monday - so my question is - is it St. Patrick's Day today ?

Please let me know, and then I can start the appropriate thread

It is the 15th March this year. I'm not Irish but I saw a news story about this yesterday! The Vatican don't allow any other celebrations in Holy Week.

Hi Mandy,
My grandad is originally from Ireland-it is St.Patricks day today-but my Grandad will be celebrating it on Monday(plus it's also my nan+grandads wedding anniversary)He has rang his siblings in Ireland to wish them a 'Happy St.Patricks Day' but they have also said it's like any other day today.Mostly will be celebrating Monday.(and they are all strictly religious).Can't wait till Monday- bring on the ole black stuff.x.

I know the group of young teachers in work intended going out and getting blind drunk yesterday, instead of doing it after work on Monday (one of them is Irish) so that is the usual clue to St Patrick's Day.

As far as I know they got special permission to hold the St. Patrick,s Day Parade on the 17th The parade is still going ahead tomorrow (monday) as planned in Dublin There was talk of it being done on saturday just gone then the got the go ahead to hold it on St Patrick,s day hope that helps

Google thinks its today Mandy, they have gone all green and shamrock for the occasion
