To me it's official--we're dvc members

You may also be glad you purchased from Disney according to how thing turn out regarding benefits being different with those that buy/bought from Disney and those that don't.

I'm not a DVC member but have been looking at. I've been keeping my eye on the rumors flying around that things may change. I had a conversation with a DVC rep this past weekend and eventhough I would like to buy resale because it is cheaper, I know that closing takes a while longer if you go through resale and I'd like to wait to see how things pan about with these rumors. Hopefullly we will know something the first of the year.

Did they say if that was for a 2047 or 2057 contract? I know that both are out there so just curious... If we buy from Disney I'm thinking either SSR or OKW would work well for us.

Congrats! :cool1:

Welcome Home Newbies-

Welcome to "sharing the magic" with all of us other OKW( Old Key West ) owners! Having enjoyed Disney since '93 and buying more at SSR later....I can heartedly share this greeting. May your stays be "magical" and create lasting memories for you and your family!

Congrats!

Fantastic! We got the same deal back in May at OKW (2057 exp.) $90/point including 2009 points, which we had to bank by the end of May for our Oct. use year. I was hesitant at first because of thinking of savings by buying resale, but in the end for us I don't think we would've saved much after you figure in closing costs with resale. Also, you don't often find a 2057 contract through resale vs. the 2042 exp. and I wanted the longer term.

As a side to all this, I was then layed off from my job in July and still don't regret our purchase. DH thought boy it'd be nice to have that cash back now, but he too is still happy I believe because if I'm happy he's happy. Hahaha.

all in all it took about 3 wks to finalize I just felt uncomfortable with buying resale. although a lot of people do it and it turns out fine.

We actually got the sellers to pay all of our closing costs so that is not always a reason to avoid resale!

yes DVC offered OKW when we stated we just didn't like BLT and the guide said I think we have a few OKW that we just purchased back but let me ck. She stepped out and came back and said we have 341 so then we had to decide how many we wanted. We decided on 175.

$90 per point

It makes me a little surprised that Disney just waived on an Old Key West membership that expired 2057 that someone bought at $68 per point. If the guides are now offering it to customers maybe Disney will start buying more of the Old Key West contracts back.

Also be advised that Disney has told us here at The Timeshare Store, Inc.® that if someone buys and Old Key West contract that expires 2042 that they can still pay for the extension until 2057 but it would be $25 per point.

Just so there is no confusion I believe this post should read 2042 or 2057.
