We are leaving in 7 days and haven't made any ADRs. It's just me and my DD and usually don't have any trouble getting seated at tables with a very short wait. We've never been in late July/early Aug. before. I'm getting nervous and am wondering... Do you think we should make some ADRs? Thanks!!

I think you should call for some, unless you're happy with counter service most of the time. You could get lucky, of course.

It's better to make them, you often can't get into the restaurants around this time

My comfort would be to make tentative ADRs. You can always call and change your plans, and you can even make ADRs the day of, but, for me, I like to have something set just in case. If dining isn't a big part of your trip, maybe you can get by with just grabbing something on the go. However, we like to try different places and I do not like having the gamble of walking up and not getting into a place I really want to go. The only time we don't make ADRs is if we are planning on a CS meal or eating somewhere at World Showcase - we have never really had a problem getting into one of the TS places at WS.

You should be nervous. I had a hard time getting ress for my parents . Call and see if what or anything you can get. Good Luck!

I just sched some ADRs for this weekend. It'll depend on where you want to go. No avail at LeCellier, but Biergarten was wide open. In MK, character dining was busy, but we found a late seating at Tony's Town Square on Friday night... and it's an EMH night at the MK, too.

My dd and I had no trouble walking up in June/July (from June 13th - July 4th). We did have adr's for most days, but I cancelled some of those. We even walked up to Yak n Yeti, the newest TS, and waited about 45 seconds..lol. But, that was because there was only 2 of us. They were turning people away telling them about 1.5 hours, but we walked up at the same time a cm came out asking if there were any parties of 2.. we had just walked up and the cm we were going to check into smiled at me, and we were in.

We walked up to: Crystal Palace, about 15 minute wait. Boma, once we waited about 20 minutes, the next time for breakfast wasn't a walk up, but we called ON THE WAY and booked it for 25 minutes away. And Kona's.. about a 10 minute wait.

I find that if you are only 2 people you can often get in without a long wait. Last year we did a walk in for Ohana's. We had ressies for the next night but they were late, and I decide to try a walk up a night earlier. If we couldn't get in then we'd just wait until the next night, but we got right in, so I cancelled the ressies for the next night.

If there's someplace you have your heart set on eating, I would make an ADR. Even if you try on the same day... after all most people who cancel will probably cancel on the same day.

Good Luck.

These are excellent tips. Call and make an ADR on the way. I once made an ADR standing outside Le Chef de France and people while people were getting turned away with a 2 HR wait we got an ADR 15 minutes out from the time of the call. Also, people do cancel day of (Soapbox warning: It is the courteous and RIGHT thing to do), so call and check on an ADR if you do get shut out.

I would definately call and be prepard to be flexable. How many are traveling in your party?

Walk ups are always POSSIBLE but not PROBABLE or a slam dunk.If you really want a ts meal, book something to avoid disappointment.

No reason to be nervous unless you're really wanting a TS meal. Some folks go and do counter service for the whole trip.
FWIW, last summer in early Aug I saw people attempt a walk up a few times during our visit.
A couple of times they were told flat out no availability. At Flying Fish, a group of 4 were at least given the option to wait-they were just in front of us at the check in podium. We noticed they were still waiting as we walked out from our dinner.

If you're wanting table service, I'd make at least a couple of reservations. It didn't look like the turned away or the very long wait folks were having much fun.
