Day 1 24th March 2008 London
Jordan stayed over at our house on the Sunday night, ready for setting off to London on the Monday morning. Time dragged, as we got ourselves ready, and eventually, Jordan and I flicked through the TV channels to pass time on and we found Peter Pan on Sky so sat & watched that, which really set the mood. I never realised that the DLRP music that they play when you phone them, was actually from that film.
So at long last it was time to go, and my good old mother in law took us to Meadowhall to catch our train to Doncaster, we had to divert to Meadowhall instead of Sheffield, due to engineering works. As we arrived, so too did Liam & Becky and also Jordans mum & dad, Nicky & Karl, who had come to wave him off. My two youngest grandkids arrived with their other grandad shortly after, so the full team was there and ready to board the train. Jake had got a really bad throat, so his impression of Donald Duck was even more amusing. I had never set off on holiday in a blizzard before, but we certainly had one as we waited, but just as quick as it started, it finished again and we actually set off in glorious sunshine,

waving a sad goodbye to those we were leaving behind.
<a href="http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/?action=view¤t=P1010833.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/P1010833.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
The journey to Doncaster soon passed and we then had a half hour wait on Donny station, before we joined our train to London, and the first of our travel nightmares.
<a href="http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/?action=view¤t=P1010834.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/P1010834.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
The train was absolutely packed, with no room to put our cases or the wheelchair etc. People were stood in the aisles, and there were people sat in our reserved seats, but we soon moved them on, and eventually we got settled down, arriving in London at around 4pm.
We had a very short walk to the Kings Cross Travelodge, where we dropped our bags, and Lisa & Becky got themselves changed ready for going to the theatre. The view from our bedroom window was spectacular??
<a href="http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/?action=view¤t=P1010836.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/P1010836.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
We made our way back to St Pancras to check out the Eurostar station, before jumping on the tube to Piccadilly.
<a href="http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/?action=view¤t=P1010841.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/P1010841.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
We found the theatre where Lisa & Becks were going to see Grease,
<a href="http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/?action=view¤t=P1010842.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/P1010842.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
before going to the Pizza Hut for our tea. We ordered the meal deal for six people, which should have included three medium pizzas, but when they arrived they brought us three large ones, so we were all absolutely stuffed.
<a href="http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/?action=view¤t=P1010845.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/P1010845.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
The boys had chicken nuggets,
<a href="http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/?action=view¤t=P1010844.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/P1010844.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
and we all had a nice pudding, with, Jordan and Becks sharing the massive cookie dough – I don’t know how Jordan stays so skinny!!
<a href="http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/?action=view¤t=P1010846.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/P1010846.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Lisa & Becks set off for the theatre, and Liam & I took the boys for a walk to Covent Garden. This was quite disappointing really, as there were none of the usual street entertainers or anything, and together with a short downpour of snow, it was pretty boring, so we made our way to Regent Street, hopeful that Hamleys might still be open for the kids, but yet again, no luck. Not downhearted, we set off back to Piccadilly for coffee and then wandered down to Leicester Square, but Jakeys sore throat and cough was getting quite bad, so we made our way back to the theatre to wait for Becky & Lisa.
<a href="http://s227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/?action=view¤t=P1010848.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd299/kevg1889/DLRP%20Day%201/P1010848.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
We sat in reception, and could hear (and sing along to) all the songs, together with the cheers of the audience, before the girls eventually joined us, having really enjoyed the show. We got back to our hotel and had a couple of drinks in the bar, before settling down to bed at 11pm. The room was really noisy, with the trains running right under our window, but while I didn’t sleep too well, all the others were soon asleep & dreaming of what was to come.
