To Hop or not to Hop?

This whole DLR thing is a totally new experience for me. Last time I was at DL, there was only one park, no hopping and I think the old subs were still running!

We have been to WDW numerous times but usually don't hop. I know everything is more spread out at WDW and so was wondering what you would do in a three day stay since DLR is all right there.

I initially had planned on 2 days at DL and 1 day at CA. Should we stick to this plan or hop back and forth between the two parks each day. I want to maximize our attraction time so which way is best to do it?

I'm a DL newbie again, it's like starting from scratch!

I'm in the same boat, only I have one fewer day that you. I purchased RideMax and while it has some great advice about maximizing your day, it doesn't have a park hop feature. I have a four hour window during my time at Disneyland that it gives me nothing - I figured I'd head over to CA but plugging that into the software, it doesn't give me fast pass options and the lines are really long.

My plan was to do either:

Do an entire Day at Disney. Next day, half a day at Disney, afternoon at CA, and back to Disney. Or, take two mid-day breaks and head over. I'm just not sure what would be best. I want to see everything at Disney but at CA, my only MUST is the Turtle Talk and the Soaring over CA..

Hi Chris!

First off, print off HydroGuy's link & read it. This is essential reading for all WDW vets.

Next, print & read all of Hydroguy's rules (found within this link and repeated often on this board).

For quite a few opinions on the virtues of "Park Hopping", here is another link

After reading these links, you'll have lots more questions about Walt's Park.

You're gonna love it.

I agree with Albort...hopping to CA to chill in the Animation Bldg or just to pick up fastpasses for later in the day is a great way to escape the crowds in DL. We always enter DL when it opens and then head to CA for lunch at the Pacific Wharf Cafe. If we are in CA in the evening we ride ToT near closing and then hop back over to DL!

Hop, Hop, Hop.

CA closes earlier than MK and that is another reason. When CA closes you can hop over to the MK and while everyone else is watching the parade or the fireworks, you can get on the rides with little to no wait.

And I agree with the posters above regarding chilling at CA when MK is way too crowded.

You cannot equate parkhopping at WDW to DLR. At DLR the two parks are so close that it is practical to hop back and forth multiple times during the day. At WDW we do not hop. At DLR we always hop.

Hopping at Disneyland is like being at Epcot in Future world and asking yourself "should we go over to World Showcase"? It's that close.

Hop, hop, hop!

i agree, I think it would be strange not to hop at DL and if your there for 2 days or more, the tickets are automatically hoppers...

I agree with everyone else. Definitely hop. We usually devote one day right off the bat to each of the parks and hop from CA to DL after CA closes for the day. Then we spend the remainder of the time hopping between the two parks, hitting the rides, parades, etc that we like best!

Hop ! I love to go to DCA for lunch, then rest pool at the resort, then back to DL for the evening.

I would hop too! Reason is that if you didn't, you would have one day solely at DCA that would be over really early and DL would still be open for about another 3 hours.

Definitely HOP!:tigger: :tigger:

DO DL in morning, hop over to DCA and have lunch and ride everything you can at DCA, they close earlier anyway. Just try not to be there when DCA actually closes, you'll be in the herd of cattle heading back into DL.

Then hop back over to DL and catch the parades etc.

I wish the monorail had a stop in DCA, it would be so convenient to board at Tomorrowland and get off in DCA, sometimes heading back down Main St. with my little ones is a pain.
But who cares! I'm at Disneyland!
