To Hop or not to Hop, with Genie+?

I just wanted to add I swore I wouldn’t buy it for AK but I ended up buying yesterday when we went. I’m glad I did. We were able to use it for 4 rides so the cost was about $4 each to get to the front of each of those rides. AK was like something I had never seen yesterday. Pretty much every ride was an hour all day long. If it was a “normal” week I would say don’t buy for AK but words can’t express the crowds of people EVERYWHERE yesterday. Today is HS and tomorrow thanksgiving is MK. Again just trying to get 4 rides out of genie+ is our goal. No way to stack anything right now because times are gone so early. Still having fun though!

AK will be my first park day and I'm going Christmas week, so I bought genie for all 4 days. What order, if you don't mind did you get your LL's. Just curious as I've mostly focused on MK and DHS. TIA

You bet! The order we got them in was Navi, Safari, Expedition Everest and Dinosaur. We did Tough to be a bug and the bird show without LL. Good luck and have fun! Just bring your patience, we’re taking a break now from HS and it is INSANE there. Everything is over an hour wait. Pretty sure all we will get is 3 LL rides today. Don’t forget if it shows it’s “out of LL” keep refreshing, sometimes it takes a few minutes before something pops up.

Yeah, that sounds rough. We're planning on mostly watching shows and cavalcades and enjoying the decorations, but not excited to be packed in the heavy crowds.

Isn't Expedition Everest an ILL ride? That means you used Genie+ for 3 ride then? Personally I don't care much for Dinosaur and Navi.

Thanks all for your replies! I have booked our short trip (3 days) and went ahead and just got G+ with the tickets so I don't have to stress about buying it each day. It looked like MK and DHS were sold out for reservations for the last two days of our trip based on the calendar, but when I went to book it (after buying tickets), it let me reserve those parks. Weird. I would have probably purchased a 4 day ticket, but our departure day showed only EPCOT for a starting park (opens at 11) and we have to leave for the airport at 11. So WDW missed out on our money for that day, as I would have bought a 4th park day if I could have for sure reserved a park that opened at 9am (any other park than EPCOT).

FYI Disney has been adding park hours two weeks before the start of a trip (for holidays/summer) and then dropping ADRs for the evening hours. Epcot was scheduled to open at 10 am, then 2 weeks before our trip it changed to 8:30 am. MK changed from 9 pm close to 11 pm (so Deluxe guests extended hours changed to 11 pm-1 am). We're going in August and will have 8 day tickets, so no open to close days for us. We'd never last the entire trip -- think marathon, not sprint lol. I have always been a rope drop person. We usually go from rope drop through dinner and then leave, with a couple of late start days thrown in so we can stay through fireworks. This time, and I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm seriously considering rope dropping only AK and doing all the other parks from lunch through closing. Park hopping sounds too tiring with far too much last minute juggling of LLs. I'm getting headaches just thinking about it. I absolutely hate backtracking and crisscrossing the parks. I'm a planner. I like to have a plan in place, even if I veer from the plan once I get there. This new system makes that pretty much impossible. I'm thinking if I stick to one park a day and do the stacking method, at least for MK and HS, I will be able to make some semblance of a plan by the time we get to the park, with hopefully three LLs ready to go, along with a lunch ADR. I don't know. I haven't had to put this much thought into a trip since our first lol.
