To hop or not to hop ... that's the question?

I would definitely go for the hopping -- especially if you're planning to use early entry days. Even if you don't want to hop for different rides/atmosphere, you'll have more flexibility for restaurants and evening fireworks shows.

I think if you didn't know that park hopping was there and had never experienced it before, you'd be fine not doing so. But, knowing that it's there and having used it everytime we've gone to WDW, I'd have a hard time not park hopping. We would go to MK one day, and it'd be busy. So, we'd hop on over to Epcot. We'd plan a meal at MK or Epcot, but something later on at one of the different parks. We park hopped with a 2 and 6 year old.

Another thing to look into if you don't want to park hop is to get a 5,6,ot 7 day park pass. It might be less expensive to do that then get the park hopping option. That way, if a park is really busy and you want to go to your hotel, you have an extra day on your ticket to go back to that park. For us, we were going to buy a 6 day pass and when I saw that the 7 day pass was only $6 more, total for the 5 of us, we decided on that. We will have an extra day to go to the parks if we want, if not, we are only out $6.
Thank you for this great idea! I never would have thought of this! We may use this as the answer to our own "to hop or not to hop" dilemma.

I am not a huge fan of park hopping. I have found that the days that we hopped were very exhausting days. I am glad that now I can choose NoT to pay for this feature on my tickets.
Basically it will cost your family $140 plus tax to have the freedom to hop so it may or may not be worth it to you.
