Hey all, so here's an on the topic/off the topic question.

My DW tells me that her girlfriend has been taking trips to Disney and staying in RCI resorts in the area. I guess the friends mom works at RCI and 4 times a year she can buy $125 vouchers that let anyone holding it stay in an RCI property for one week (6 nights) with no extra fees.

Has anyone else heard of this? My wife couldn't give me any more details, and I am really thinking there must be catches!

I have an RCI account and they do have have "Last Call". I'm pulling up Sept/Oct in Orlando for $219/wk for a 1br.

It's not that hard to find deals in Orlando through RCI or II on their getaway/extra vacations/last call offers. Not Orlando, but did almost book a 3br at Marriott Surfwatch for Xmas week for around $500.

What your DW heard from her friend might be a perk that RCI gives out to employees.

Agree with above -- doesn't sound out of line for an employee perk. We've often enjoyed inexpensive stays in Orlando through RCI.

It sounds reasonable to me. We have an RCI account and I can book Sheraton Vistana one bedrooms and Vacation Village at Parkway right now for $219 for the week in a one bedroom 45 days from check-in - nice deal. So I would imagine an employee would have even better perks than RCI's last calls.

Thanks everyone,

littlestar, I see that you move around from a couple resorts during your trips. Can you tell me more about what that is like?

We usually have family with us. I usually book a DVC studio for my married kids and then me and the hubby stay the week in a 2 bedroom Marriott. Sometimes if we're saving points, Sunday through Thursday, the kids stay the hight point weekends with us at Marriott.

This next trip, though, me and the hubby are in a 1 bedroom at OKW the whole week (then a studio for 2 extra days) and I've got family/grown kids I'm checking in on our Interval account at the other resorts (Cypress Harbour and Sheraton Vistana Villages). We do tend to stay all over Orlando, but mostly at Marriott or DVC. ;)

We have an RCI and II account since one of our other timeshares is dual affiliated with both exchange companies.

I was actually tempted to book an RCI last call in one of those 1 bedrooms for $219 for the week for the 2 extra nights we needed, but decided with it being hurricane season, I'd just use our Annual Pass discount and some extra DVC points for the two weekend nights I needed at OKW. Decisions, decisions . . . (Laughter). I've been wanting to try an RCI last call at Sheraton Vistana (the original resort) in a one bedroom. I heard the 1 bedrooms are in the good sections - either Lakes or Cascades so very tempting. It would be an extra good deal for the whole week. Even with the tax it's only $245 for the week, so that's $35.00 a night - what a deal.

While $125 out the door is not feasible, $200-300 for a 2 BR is in one of several ways. Take my situation where I could trade a studio for a 2 BR (a 3 BR at times) at a Marriott for a total cost of about $350 through II or a bonus week for much of the year cost between $300-300 plus tax depending on unit size or lastly get cash rentals through II for around $500 or less for some times of the year. With RCI one can often get $199 rentals or trade in to many great resorts with almost anything, total cost varies with what you trade but my only couple with RCI have had a cost of around $300 total. All prices include underlying maint fees on the unit traded and prorated up front buy in costs where applicable.

My son used to work for RCI. Indianapolis used to be the headquarters for RCI. He received perks similar to what is mentioned above when he worked there about 10 years ago.
