Part 3 Monday October 22

Eeyore: my DH, best friend, night owl, ends up having late night wildlife rendezvous.

Jaxtrip: me, wife, best friend, pops out of bed in the morning like a piece of toast out of a toaster, trip planner, lurker on DIS for ~6 months.

Monday October 22 7:05AM SCREEEECH! Whew!

I'm up and raring to go. The FW showers shocked me with cold water this AM so I skittered to another stall for a long hot water filled shower. The comfort stations were never overly busy and were clean and nice. Between 12AM and 6AM they are accessible by FW guest key only and yes I plodded there one night in my Tigger PJs and clear poncho at 1AM. I figured, hey it's 1AM, if I look sleepy with my hair all out of place, THIS is the appropriate time and place to be that way! ;)

Anyway, after showers we break down the site :( We are happy to be heading home today b/c I think we are sick of looking at tent walls closer than 4 feet from our faces, but we are sad b/c we actually made our way on our first real camping trip together and we had a brave face with our tent nestled in between TV and dog toting RVs.

We had originally planned on going to Trails End for Breakfast but it was 10AM before we were ready to go so we decide to skip it and head to Epcot for the Food and Wine Festival choices.

We check out and buzz on over to Epcot ($6 in parking fees? no thanks, Annual Passes! Whee! Jaxtrip adds $6 to the savings tally. Only a few more of those and we'll have 'paid off' the forgotten towels! :o )

Note: FW delivered to us a special 'letter' message reminding us that the parks are now on Fall hours which looked slightly reduced. Epcot opened at 10AM with FutureWorld opening at noon (non-early entry day). However, we were told that a character bus would be visiting our resort 3 days a week (I can't remember them right now.) That seems to be nice 'trade off' to me. Especially if you have kids. Eeyore is not a kid, but he expressed interest. ;)

We ate lunch in the Land (a bit of a waste), we loved the Food and Wine Festival later. We visited Canada (O so many memories, I'm not Canadian but was raised 8 miles from the Canadian border in NY so Canada IS like my old stomping grounds.) We shopped in England, saw the impromptu show (never saw that before either!) and walked around to Japan. Visited the bonsais for sale – sentimental memories. We bought one on our Honeymoon trip 6 years ago, they only come with a 2 week guarantee, and ours has still happy and alive! We checked out all the food stands and finally had a bite of cheddar cheese soup in Canada and Eeyore had some Ecuadorian mashed potatoes with shrimp? Hmm… trying out new things is one the best parts of the F&W Festival. I would recommend it highly that if you can, make it one of your meal stops in Epcot. One goes from booth to booth and different countries (not just Epcot ones) sell small samples of food and/or wines/spirits. The prices are in the $2-4 range per item. (I don’t know the wine prices, sorry.)

By now, it’s getting time for us to head home (2 ½ hour drive back) so we hit Ice Station Cool (we’ve never done that either!), Spaceship Earth (total walk on) and head out to our car.

Home by 6:00, unpack, set up tent so that it can dry, and adjust to regular life again (laundry, bills, homework.)

Best Parts:
- Campfire Program, small crowds, surviving and not even disliking tent camping!
- Florida Resident Annual Passes during 100 years of Magic with 100 extra days!

Worst Part:
- Rain for 18 hours Sunday noon to Monday 7AM. Ugh. New tent didn’t leak though! Styrofoam cooler inside did.
- Drunken guy at campfire shoved ‘Chip’ a little. Bad form, drunk guy.

New things that we got to do:
Actually made Smores at the Campfire (ahem…. OK Eeyore toasted the marshmallows and Jaxtrip ate the Smores. ;) )
Aladdin’s Magic Carpet (we were alone in our carpet so we got to control both the up and down and the time forwards and backwards… major fun.)
Tiki Room under new management (OK, so it’s updated but I really miss the corny songs. I really do.)
Many adventures of Pooh, is this something called Pooh’s Honeypots in DL? Saw the deed passing with Owl and Toad (Thanks DIS for the tip!) We’re multicoastal super toads (road on every version in both DL and DW) so we miss Toad but Pooh was not bad. Tigger hopping was cool.
Food and Wine Festival – great
Ice Station Cool or the Coke place – snow! That’s what I left NY for! Hee hee
TL Speedway - umm... not for me, very fumey.
Impromptu show in England - Jaxtrip LOVES these things, Eeyore has learned to hide b/c Jaxtrip gets Eeyore 'volunteered' for all sorts of stuff, Eeyore has been Sir Eeyore in Sword in the Stone Ceremony, Jaxtrip laughed behind off and cheers him on forever!

For Next Time:
Electrical Water Pageant: could hear the music way back at our loop and really wanted to see it. Must do next time.
Christmas decorations: next trip will be in early December, in a tent?? Brr!

if a person is going to do it.......Disney is the place to do it........thanks so much for your great reports.......

Great Trip report Jaxtrip! I enjoyed reading it. My family will be at FW in February & March 2002; R.V. - sorry! :)

Thanks for the contribution.

Tim.

Great reports! Way to go holding your own with the RV's!!!! Thanks for writing!

Way to go !!!! We also love camping at the Fort !:bounce: :bounce:

I wasn't meaning to dis RVers! Speaking for myself, I must say I was/am jealous of the comfort and *safety* of sleeping OFF the ground. (aligators!) We saw the cutest little trailer across the loop from us, it had 1 door and 1 window! VERY small, but SOOOO cute! I think it held 2 grandparents and one grandchild. I was a little envious of the RVers getting to cook breakfasts and watch TV. Then again, I thought, hey! This is vacation right, I don't want to worry about the world by watching the morning news when I'm here.

Eeyore says he's more open to a small RV trailer than a popup b/c of leaking problems. So someday, maybe we'll get our own little 'small' home! So look out DIS, lots more camping times to come!!

Thanks for reading my reports everyone! I'm so impressed with you taking the time to submit comments. Thank you, thank you!

Remember to look for my next Trip Report in early December! Brrr.
:bounce: :D :D  :bounce:

You should pat yourselves on the back for having no leaks. That makes a trip really not so fun. Glad to hear all was well, despite the rain - and lucky for you - you'll be back soon. Its been 730-some odd days since my last trip, but oonly 6 more to go to the next!:earsboy: :sunny:
