I wanted to post a poll to get everyone's opinion. If you haven't travelled solo to disney, would you consider it if you didn't have someone to go with it. Or would you just forgo the trip?

Some people think I'm crazy for wanting to go by myself, but I tell them, I would rather go to Disney by myself than wait for someone to go with me.

i prefer to go solo, you get to do and see what you want to do. i'll be making my 3rd solo trip in a couple of months. its the only way i want to do Disney.

One bad thing about going solo is that you get spoiled! You can do what you want, when you want, like budcollector posted.

I love my solo trips!

hmmm this IS the solo board! lol

Mar 06 I flew to FL from MA w/a friend and her DD. They went offsite to a cheering competition for the 1st 3days/nights and joined me later.

5wks from today I leave for my 1st completely solo trip! 8days/7nights - very much looking forward to it. Have 7 ARs and 3 EpCot tours booked.

Going solo again in Nov 8days/7nights (or more) for my 50th bday!

Kabbie, definitely make the solo trip! I did, and I loved it. Yes, there were a few moments when I wished that I had someone to share the experience with, but going solo gave me a good reason to meet new people, try things that I might otherwise have been too chicken to do in a group (like roller coasters, in case I got sick), and to truly feel like a kid again. Have a good trip!

Absolutely, go!!!!

I've gone on a few solo trips before. I had the same apprehension as you did at first, but that went away the first day.

As others say, you do what you want, when you want, as much as you want.

One thing I will say about solo travelling is, don't plan on going for as long. For family vacation, I always for at least 10 days. Solo, you don't need that much time. 5 or 6 days is plenty.

nope - i love disney too much to forgo a trip.

i have been lucky - been WDW a total of four times.

The first time was with my brother. that was brilliant

The other three times - have been solo and have been brilliant too.

i either go solo or not at all - and i love disney too much not to go.

i came back last week from my third solo trip.

go for it. :)

I went on a semi-solo trip in October. (I say semi-solo because I had friends and family join me during part of the trip.)

I rented a convertible, and had the most wonderful time driving from the airport to WDW. I couldn't believe I actually made the trip by myself, and had the biggest smile when I drove though the Welcome to Disney World "gate"!

I say go... and have a great time. Hit the outlets... take a lot of pictures. Go to the Sci-Fi Dine in, have a shake and enjoy the movies. Do all of the things you wouldn't take time to do if someone was with you! :goodvibes

Now......I think you know the RIGHT answer to that question! You knew the right answer before you even asked!:goodvibes

I haven't taken a solo trip yet (I will after my daughter goes to college this fall) but I don't anticipate much being different than the trips I've taken with her (its always just been me and her) since we have the same likes and dislikes. I always strike up conversations (with receptive people) while standing in line. I'm not about to give up the fun of WDW *just* because I don't have another person with me. I'm fun all by myself!

Just curious- for whoever goes solo, do you ever get lonely? I would feel so sad/lonely walking through all the parks by myself with noone I really know to talk to?

Don't flame me, I'm not judging you, it's just that I never really thought about people going by themselves. I know you can go on whatever you want, whenever you want but I just feel bad that you are by yourself!

This is just my opinion......as I stated above, I haven't gone to WDW solo yet. However, in my regular life, I do alot of things solo! I think that if you feel comfortable going places, or eating out, etc by yourself then going to WDW should be no different. I think its just a matter of an individual's own comfort level! I have the tendency to be shy, so I've learned that I have to work on that so I initiate things much of the time in order to overcome the shyness.

Don't feel sorry for those solo folks! If they are going solo, they are probably pretty comfortable with it!

I don't get lonely. But then, I have never been lonely. I don't mind my own company. ;) I savor and truly enjoy every moment of a solo trip.

Don't feel bad...some people like to be alone. :goodvibes

Most of the time I go to the parks and dining places solo :goodvibes I love it :) I don't have to debate with anyone about what ride I want to go on or what I want to do or when I want to do it ect. :goodvibes I do debate with my cute little self, about what I want to do :p

Also I am 6 foot 3 and I can walk very fast and I like to walk very fast in DisneyWorld :p It might be hard for someone to keep up with little me, but since I am solo, it's just little me who has to keep up with little me :p

I enjoy going to the sit down eating places by myself. It's just nice to be by myself at the 1900 Park Fare and other sit down eating places :) If it's a character meal, I get extra special attention from the characters, since I am the only one there. Also I have more room on my table to put my stuffed animals and Suzy and Perla photo clocks and all that fun stuff :goodvibes :cloud9:

Here is a photo of the adorable items that I had on my table at the 1900 Park Fare on my 30th Birthday Miracle Vacation :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

I really enjoy all my solo trips to DisneyWorld and they are a lot of fun :goodvibes Also since many people are in DisneyWorld all the time, I am not really alone :goodvibes

Don't feel bad for us. Speaking for myself, there are times that I choose to go solo. I go both with people and without, and they're two entirely different experiences. I wouldn't give up either one. :)

Go, you won't regreat it!!!
I just came back form my 1st ever solo trip and I enjoyed it a lot:banana:
I got a lot of crap, mainly from co-workers, but it's none of their business! My friends & family weren't too surprised I wanted to do it, knowing how WDW obsessed I am!

I've gone several times 'solo' now. Well, not completely solo since I knew other people there at the same time, but I was solo in my room at night, and there were plenty of times I just went off on my own. I did find that sometimes I missed sharing stuff with my dd and dh. But, she has school and dh just doesn't love WDW as much as I do. So, each Dec I head on down with a bunch of other like minded solos. Sometimes we get together and do attractions or eat. But, like I said, there are plenty of times when I'm ambling around on my own. The only thin I can't get used to is eating alone. So, now I just grab something quick and eat it as I walk.
Besides, if you post here, letting others know when you'll be there, you can almost always find a like minded DISer who wants to meet up for a bit.

Hmm, I'm 53 and if you're going at your age, I guess I wouldn't feel too out of place at my age, then. I figure I've got one more visit with my DS (he's 18 and starts college this fall), then figure to do solo.

I'm doing my first solo trip in September. The few people that I have told think I'm nuts. I guess you can't go on vacation unless you have someone to go with you!

It would be interesting to see what responses you would get if you posted this on the community board or on the resorts board.

My first ever trip to WDW will be solo... some friends think i'm a lil nuts... but some of them wish they were in my shoes.
