To go "bagless" or not?

I've been planning to go bag free for our next trip in January for awhile( well not completely bag free since I'll prob need a wristlet for my phone at least) however as we get closer I'm already thinking it's just not gonna work :) and I'll be using one of my crossbody bags! I guess I'm just looking for opinions...what do you carry in the parks??

We carry the bare minimum. Phone, room key, cash/credit card. That's about it.

If your goal is to avoid the bag check line, a wristlet still needs to be looked at so either go bag less or stick with your regular bag.

I love going bagless! We just pick the right pants with good pockets. It is so much easier now that the boys are older. We just adopted a baby so our bagless days are over for a while.

We almost always go bagless. I love skipping bag check. Especially if it's really busy.

I've done both and obviously prefer the bag less route.

Given all the posts here about what's in everyone's park bags it's a little intimidating to see but honestly every time I've packed more than spare batteries for my camera and my credit card I've never used any of them.

Including the batteries for that matter.

Go light and have fun!

Whenever I go to Theme/Amusement Parks, I always go bagless. I always see to it that I wear a pair of cargo pants (with lots of zip pockets) where I can put my phone, wallet with cash/tickets and keys! ...and yes, my phone is always sealed in a plastic zip lock (just in case I decided to ride those rides that involves water) ;)

I can never manage to go bagless because I ALWAYS carry a water bottle with me. No matter the weather, I've got it.

It's never really been that big a deal for me.

I picked up a small cross-body bag for our last trip, a Sherpani Zoe. It holds all the things I need to hang onto, and kept me from carrying stuff I really didn't need ::yes::
It's small enough to fit into a pocket of DH's cargo shorts, so HE carries it through the non-bag line, while I cram the empty camera bag and accessories into my pockets.

I say if you can go bagless, do it!!! My first trip I carried a back pack, NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! :rotfl: Last trip I used either a vera bradley cross body bag, or a larger coach wristlet. Biggest reason for not going bagless is to keep my camera in something, plus I HAVE to keep advil with me because I can randomly get an optical migraine, and that is what helps. Plus I carry chapstick, room keys, some cash, and a couple crystal light to-go packs because I cannot deal with the taste of the water.

Everyone votes for bagless, including my family- except for me. Everyone loads me up, and I do the bag check. They go ahead and get in line.

You see, I love my DSLR, and I love to take photos of my kids in the World. A point and shoot won't do for me, so I'm stuck!

I carry a Lowepro backpack that is pretty weather tight and has room for a few ponchos, empty water bottles, etc. And carry a small backpack with other essentials that someone else will carry. Cargo pants don't work for us, we go shorts/T-shirts and VERY casual. More things fall out of pockets at the parks than you realize. And there are lockers everywhere, some free.

I always carry a cross body. Its out of the way & a quick check through security. I went bagless once, but it felt like my pockets were bulging. Rather put what I need in the bag. Now that there are the MB there is really no need to carry cash, credit or my pass since everything is linked, but I still need a place to put my camera & phone.

Thanks for all the great input! I've decided to stick with one of my Vera /baggalini cross body bags:) I don't normally have pockets and I think I'll just feel more comfortable with my bag- I'll just def cut down on what I put in them!!

I love being bagless but I have found that that is easier to do in the evenings than during the daytime. Daytime hours = sunscreen, etc that are too bulky to put into pockets & too important to skip. Since we often take mid day breaks between park hopping I often switch from day to night in terms of my baggage too.

I couldn't go bagless but I think decreasing the amount you put in the bag is a huge help. I carry phone, ponchos and camera!

Oh how I envy those that can go bagless!!!

We have 6 kids and I can't see going bagless, well ever. We have to have sunscreen. I re-apply every few hours. I have to have diapers and baby wipes and moleskin and blister band-aids and a brush and pony tail holders for the girls. extra pacifiers (one year we lost the only one we had on Buzz, yikes!, good thing it was close to time for us to leave). I'm sure I'm missing something.

What I really look forward to is not having to have a stroller, but then I'd have no place for my bag and I can't imagine carrying one around everywhere all the time. I am not even a "purse kind of girl". I guess because I've been a diaper bag kinda girls for 15 years, LOL

When we are stroller less we are going to have to come up with something cause I'm not carrying a bag all day. Not sure what I'd do with sunscreen. Maybe instead of the big spray bottles use a small tube and hubby will have to put it in his pocket LOL I can't stand to carry anything other than my phone on my pockets.

I put my drivers license in hubby's wallet ;)

Oh yeah then there's autograph books.... which we do these every trip with all 6 kids. When they move out I plan to put together a package of memento's with their autograph books in them from all our family trips.

I've been bagless for several yrs. Phone an gum I'm good to go Dh carrys the passes an money. He is almost always bagless as well.

If DH has a bag it contains a sandwich for each of us an a couple cans of diet coke to be consumed shortly after entering park. The bag a Disney bag is then folded an put in CH's back pocket for next time.

I hate carrying a bag, so bought some shorts and capris that I use just for WDW. My tiny Cannon Elph camera goes in one side pocket, my cell phone in another, then I have a tiny Vera Bradly zip ID case that goes in a third pocket and holds my ID, CC, Disney gift card, room key, AP, a $20.00 bill, and a tiny lip balm. That's all I ever carry into the parks.

After wearing a Bagallinni cross-body bag for several trips, I'm choosing to go with a fanny pack this year. I see soooo many people wearing them, and I really don't care what others think of my bag. I couldn't stand having the bag pulling on my neck and shoulders all day. It became very uncomfortable over the week in the park and I remember being so jealous of those that had their arms (and neck) free. So I will find the cutest fanny pack that I possibly can, and will finally feel comfortable!:cool1:

I love the freedom of going bagless!
I'm thinking the magicbands will make it much easier to do. I do like taking my DSLR so we do occasionally take a bag of some sort but not every time.
When we have children I'm sure one of us will be stuck carrying a bag. I'm sure there's much more to carry.
