Ok, here is the story. My fiance and I have planned a wedding in martha's vineyard in august. Just a small shin dig with our kids and parents and siblings. We planned on staying on MV for 2 nights and cape cod the rest of the week as a "honeymoon".
Then, the announcement is made that the free disney dining plan is back (we took full advantage of this last year and it was FABULOUS!) but DF doesn't have the extra days to take off for the wedding trip, his yearly golf outing in november AND a disney trip.
My solution is this - we cut our wedding trip short and come home a day or 2 after the wedding. DF skips out on the golf outing this year, and even tho he may have to beg for an extra day or 2 off from work, WE GO TO DISNEY!

DF is skeptical of this plan b/c that may push back a possible trip for next year, more new stuff may open by next year if we decide not go this year, our daughter is 1 1/2 and is a complete terror and would definitely be a handful this time around.... etc....etc....

BUT, there are factors that are FOR a trip this year and NOT next year. They may not offer the fabulous dining plan next year, we could get pregnant by then, etc, etc.

So, do we leave all as is and skip disney this year? Or do we bite the bullet and go for it???????

I am all for Disney. :)

Though I am sure most will tell you to leave as is.

I think posts here are going to be about 99% in favor of a Disney trip. Might be fun to go post the same question on a golf board to see what people say ;)

That's the idea! :thumbsup2 If there are a million posts saying "do disney"... how could he possibly say no?? :confused3 :teeth:

My Fiance and I post-poned our August Vegas wedding altogether, in favor of a 12 day Disney trip...

Soooo, YES!

I would do the Disney trip now, as you never know what the future will hold and when you might be able to get back there.

Could you switch the whole wedding to Disney? Now I know some of those weddings are extremely expensive but maybe just renting the chapel long enough for the ceremony and celebrating on your own. If Family came they could keep your kids and have fun at Disney and so could you. Just a thought.

We have thrown that idea around but it is the cost that keeps us from doing it. We were wondering tho, could we just bring in an officiant to the park with us and have him marry us on the side of the boardwalk or in front of the castle or something?? Does anyone know if disney has any rules against that?? I never hear of anyone doing it.

Yes Disney has rules about that - you would be thrown out in an instant. You could however bring an officiant into your room - that's about the only place at Disney you could get married without being a part of Disney Weddings. You could have a Swan/Dolphin wedding which is cheaper I understand. You could have an intimate wedding which isn't all that expensive but you could only have 15 - 20 guests I believe. Check out the Disney Weddings and Honeymoon board. You could also just get married at the courthouse and celebrate with a big dinner, fireworks cruise, etc.

My vote would be to have the wedding at Disney or in Orlando.

Hope a ferry from MV to Providence and take a SWA flight to WDW. THere will be a SWA fare sale in July(book tickets now) and get a price adjustment...and spend your honey moon in FLA!!!
