Just a few questions for you guy's. Just got back from DW last sunday, we took the DVC tour at SSR very nice place! Our guide expalined to us that on March 5th the points and cost goes up to 160 to start. We asked if there was any incentives to purchase prior to the 5th and there was $10 off each point. Well I finally had time to go thru all the material today and find out that the discount was only good for 3 days and that there was no other discount available.
My main concern is it better to buy direct from DVC or get a better deal from a resale. Last but not least if we buy a resale at other than SSR and the contract expire's what happens to all the points that you have purchased?

The closing cost from DVC where in the ball park of $200 FYI.

Thanks

Jim

I was seriously thinking about going through resale also. But the lag time in closing, the possibility of not passing the ROFR, closing cost of about $500 through resale were big reasons not to. In the long run it may look like a good deal but oh the headaches. Not to mention it won't close before the 5th of March at which time the points required will be 160 through Disney and the cost of $104 per point for SSR. If you want title insurance through your resale you will have to purchase it. Disney is paying for mine. One other big point is I became a member on a Monday night. I called to schedule my first trip the next Wednesday even before I received my paperwork or closed. Just some things to ponder.:goodvibes

You are correct the closing price with Disney is around $200 but that is better than the $500 I was going to pay.

Good luck in making your decision.:)

Only you can decide for yourself how to purchase. Education is power and you sure will learn mucho from this board.

Within the last couple of months we have purchased both Resale and through DVC. Each had there pro and con. Using the search utility of the board enabled us to learn everything we needed to know before me made our decision.

Good Luck and WELCOME HOME!
