Yes there is a deposit to pay when you first sign the papers to make the purchase.
You have the option of paying cash in full, putting the full purchase price on a credit card (if you have a high enough credit limit) or financing the purchase through Disney.
After the payment has been made you will close on the purchase and you will own a teenie tiny piece of Disney World. :goodvibes The deed will be filed with the County Clerks office in Orange County Florida and you will received the deed in the mail.
From that point forward you will be responsible for the annual maintenance fees which are billed in January. You can pay them all at once or have a monthly EFT from your checking account.

I wish I had received that email b/c we are interested in looking at DVC. How many nights did they offer to stay for free?

They are offering 160 developer points. If you want give me your e-mail and I will forward the offer to you and you can see it in writing. I just talked to my guide I think anyone can use it.

Dana1003, be careful about the Disney Visa rewards card. You cannot just open one and get the bonus. I believe the account had to open 6 months to qualify for that particular bonus.

Our friends got a Disney Visa 2 weeks before they purchased and they received the bonus. Unless something has changed, you qualify for the bonus as long as it's on your Disney visa regardless of how long you've been a cardholder.

Here's the deal that I got at DW last Sunday-It should match what the email offer is:
For 160 points the out of pocket minimum down payment is $500.00
DVC matches with $8.00 per point gift card ( $1280.00) which can be used along with your $500.00 down payment so your down payment now looks like $1780.00.
DVC will give you also developer points which equal the number of points that you purchase, so in this case you get 160 developer points which can only be used at Saratoga Springs Resort or a few other options such as the Disneyland Hotel or a exchange property. In our case, we gor a December use year so our first points will be credited in December 2008 and are "active" when the new area of AK opens in May 2009.
There is also some aditional benefit to using the Disney Visa, but I don't have one so it doesn't matter to me anyway.
BTW, also the annual dues for 2008 are $4.7132 but on current new contracts at AK, they will not be collected until the new AK units open.

Do you think this is a better deal than buying a resale?

Sorry I misunderstood the OP. I believe there used to be an offer whereby you used your Disney Visa card for the down payment and you recieved a bonus.

I thought that was what the OP was referring to.

no actually-it was the email..there wasnt anything in it about the visa card i just assumed thats how it worked..sorry.
