To bring family or to NOT bring family?

We are going to WDW in May! I have this compulsive disorder that when I know we are definately going to WDW I ask family members to come with us! I know my Grandfather would love AKL and I would really like him to see it. Seeing we took my grandmother last year.(he changed his mind at the last minute) But if I remember all of our past trip we usually over lap with sme family. I remember one trip where we waited two days for a family member to show up! Not that I don't love my family. Do you prefer to make it a nice vacation with just your family or do you like to invite a lot of people?
I have to decide to invite my brother and his family as well as my grandparents.?

I think it's always nice to invite people -- I just don't always like being responsible for their vacation happiness at WDW. Your Grandparents might need help, but everybody else should make their own reservations and you shouldn't feel compelled to do everything all together (JMO).

We usually talk someone into going with us, but our upcoming trip is just the immediate family.

I balance it out - Sometimes I go alone, (don't even bring DH!) sometimes it's just him and me, sometimes we add mom to the trip. Sometimes it's all of us, plus sister and brother and inlaws and niece. We always do a FULL family trip in December to do the Christmas stuff. DH and I go to "get away" from the realities of life and to see concerts at American Garden. Mom and I go to pin events, Flower and Garden, Food and Wine, and when I really can't stand it anymore (usually by the end of the school year) I go by myself.

It's all good, no matter how you go, and if I'm going to do something in particular, it's nice to take someone who wants to do the same thing as you. Of course, it helps to live close enough that we have all those options!

the good: if everyone gets along well it is nice to share the fun
the bad: lots more hassle to get everything done due to bigger numbers, harder to round up everyone and more "wants" like why someone never has to go to the rest room until 1/2 hr after everyone else just went(...usually just as you are ready to enter *your* favorite attraction ), what everyone "must " do, where everyone * wants* to eat ....

this time we are going just my hubby and me and I am looking forward to it since normally we go with many (smallest group 8, largest 20) so this will be a relief.:sunny:

Our first big "family and friends" trip went okay - my sister is always late and we were constantly missing busses, etc.

Our second big "friends and family" trip was such a disaster, DH still has not looked at the pictures!

In a few weeks, it will be only DH, DD, DS, and myself. I know it will be so much more relaxed!

Hey milmore! Just noticed you are in my neck of the woods! I live in Saranac Lake!

Go for the family thing!:D
