So I called disney last night and was wondering if I should book the room only now??? So I am staying at the POP last week of january. the women says if I book it now it will cost me $168 but now I want to add a room and she put me in a prefered room and I dont want that (I enjoy being away from the pool not right ontop of if). So heres my issue, !. can /i book 2 rooms for the price of 168 and 2. How does that affect the deals that disney later offers? Once you book a package if a better deal comes out will disney still give that new deal to you even though you already have it booked? does any one know? What would you do??????????
Thanks for the feedback!

When you book in advance of the rates being released, they always charge you a deposit based on the highest rate of the current year. That is not what you will be charged once the real rates come out. They will adjust the rate based on the real rate. So the 168 may or may not be the rate you would be charged.
If you book now and know that you want a package, you will need to call again once the packages are released and make a whole new reservation with a new deposit. They will then cancel the existing room only reservation and refund your deposit. Usually if you know you want a package, there is no real advantage to booking before the rates are released, unless you know you want a specific room type and hope by reserving it ahead of time that you can get the same category once the rates are released. Since it seems that you are going to book a category that you are not really interested in having, there seems to be no real reason to book it now.
Once you have booked a package, if a new deal comes out that you want, you can get it changed as long as there is availabilty at the resort for the dates you want. It does not matter that you already have something booked, it only matters that there is availabilty for what you want. The only catch would be if the new deal came out within 45 days of arrival. There could be a fee to change from one package to another, especially if the cost is coming down.

If you know for sure you want room only and not a package, it wouldn't hurt to book now so you get the resort you want on the dates you want :goodvibes. If you book room only now, you will make a deposit of 1 night's room charge + tax per room, based on 2009 peak or holiday rates, which will be adjusted once the 2010 prices are released, which is usually sometime in August :). If a room only discount comes out, you can have it applied to your ressie, provided your resort/dates/room type has availability under the discount ;). But if you are wanting a package, you will have to wait until August when the 2010 prices are released. Since room only ressies cannot be converted to packages (a room only would have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked requiring a new $200 deposit), it wouldn't make sense to book room only now only to get a package later .

I say if you know that you're going to want a package in the end, wait until the 2010 rates are out. We go to wdw at the end of January each year too, and in years past I've always booked the room only in mid July and then switched it to a package when the prices are out, then if there is a special offer, I have to switch again and hope that something is available, and have money refunded and pay more deposits.... it's craziness :scared1: This year I'm waiting for the prices to come out before I do anything, and of course I'll be looking for any heads up on upcoming deals. Another reason I'm waiting is b/c adr bookings changed from 180 to 90 days out. If you know the room you want is hard to get then I would book it, otherwise I wouldn't.

Thanks so much for the opinions! I think I'll just wait until the rates come out! Espcially since you have to cancel and re-book it to get the package deal!

So as far the new deals I can have them apply it to my ressie as long as its 45 days out? That makes me feel alot better! I was kinda concerned about that!

Thank you for helping me!!

Ps how Florida in January? I'm from Boston so any warmth is better than Boston in january!!! How are the lines? May was dead we alked on to most rides! Im hoping january is even slower!!!
