OK, backstory first: I broke my ankle at work in December, had surgery, just started walking again. Had Disney trip for me and my Dd and my niece planned for April, postponed it til August. I have been stuck in my home all winter long, not able to walk, drive, or do much of anything at all. I feel the need to get out of town by myself for a few days once I can walk long distances again. I am thinking sometime in May. There is no destination for me other than WDW.

It is regular season at the Values until may 21st. Should I book a solo for a few days? I love POP so I would stay there. Are solo trips really as relaxing as they sound? Or do you think I should just sit tight until my August trip with the kids?

Glad to hear your ankle is better. I can understand the case of "Spring Fever" - the weather here in Alabama has been typically March, very changeable.
As long as you feel comfortable traveling alone, I'd say go for it. Visit some places that you haven't done before. Try a new restaurant or ride. Stop and watch the Living Statues in EPCOT. Just enjoy the scenery. Refresh your spirit.:hippie:
Being with family and friends is wonderful. But sometimes one needs to have fun being with one's self. So go ahead and make your plans.:car:
I enjoy watching people. Whenever I travel I manage to have a good time. I have conversations with strangers. And you know, turns out that they aren't complete strangers after all. We always have something in common. :rainbow:

Sweetie, I think you should join us in May. . .anytime during the period between the 14th and the 19th. . .

I got a DING fare yesterday on a flight from Orlando to Buffalo that was good on May 20th. I took it as a sign. $68 airfare is hard to say no to. I will be down in May now, tentative dates May 17th to early morning 20th.
Traveling alone does not bother me. Actually I think it will be a lot less stressful than traveling alone with children, which is what I usually do! :)

Amen.. I'm heading down next week, but I'd also go in May if I could (too many conflicts). Solo trips can be really fun and relaxing, and with the bunch of Dis-ers going down in May, you'll have a lot of company for group fun. :grouphug: Sort of the best of both worlds I think. :goodvibes

I know, I think it is great to meet new people! I met a fellow Dis boarder and her DH on my last trip, and it was so cool. I get excited to think I can go resort hop, and dream about staying at the Poly, and even watch a darn show or two. As the only adult on my family trips, I never get to watch shows! I want to see a parade from start to finish too, not catch a glance as we go from attraction to attraction while it is on. LOL

That is exactly my reasons for going solo. . .

Just so you know. . .I extended my trip through the 20th, so I'll be there all day on the 19th as well. . .

I DID IT!!! Just booked my first ever solo trip. POP checkin 5/17, check-out verrrry early 5/20. Preferred room, AAA discount.
:cool1: :cool1: :yay: :dance3:

Good for you! I have planned several solo trips the past couple of years and always ended up inviting someone to join me for part or all of the trip. Have had great trips, but really enjoyed the days I had alone. Kept saying - next time do NOT invite anyone along! So this May I am going solo the whole way and looking forward to it so much. I am sorry I will be leaving the day you arrive - would have loved to have lunch or something...

I hope you ankle is much better. Remember you can always rent an ECV if it starts hurting. I did one year and Epcot became a breeze. A one day ECV if you rent in the park is easy to handle and the rides are easy too.

I changed my flight today to 7pm instead of 7am on the 20th to give myself an extra day at the World. It only cost 30 bucks more, so it is worth it. :goodvibes

So excited!

Hey Tracy, it's Tracey...was just looking at your flights...are you flying SW by any chance? I am flying in first thing on the Fri and so far coming home mid day on Monday, but looking at staying the extra day till Tues. so I might be joining you on your flight home!

Just waiting to see if the fare will go down and weighing the costs of adding an extra night, driving back home in the dark, etc. But the flight home Monday is going to be packed! Completely sold out...not looking forward to that...

Woo Hoo Tracy. . .I will be there all day that day too. . .My flight leaves at 8:25 p.m. that night as well. . .

Thats how I get when it get close to my trip - I am always adding days and leaving home earlier than I had planned on - I just can't wait to get there.

I can't wait for May:woohoo: :woohoo:

Yes Tracey, I am flying SW. That flight is down to like 99 bucks now. It was at 130 last week. So I jumped on it. I had a DING fare for 68 but it was that early morning. I never mind driving home from the B-lo airport at night because the 190 is always DEAD after 10 pm. There is little to no traffic all the way to the Falls from there. I don't know how far north of the border you are, but the drive in the states is calm and peaceful at that time.

Hi Lustergirl - I think I may have responded to you on another thread - I will be there solo as well 5/4-7 - are you going to the meet on 5/7 at the Japan arch at 7:45pm? I am going to try & be there. If you'd like to meet up any other time just let me know, I'm now getting nervous that I'll feel "lonely" while I'm there! My tentative plan is to arrive in FL at 2pm Sunday the 4th & head to MK, they're open til 11pm that night, then AK til they close on Monday, then hop over to Epcot for the rest of the night, then Epcot all day Tuesday the 7th.

I believe we are meeting 5/6 at 7:45pm at the Japan Arch. Hope to see you there. I am arriving 5/5 early around 10:30, trying to decide where I would like to venture off to first. Probably MK as this is my favorite park.

You are correct, it's 5/6 not 5/7 for the meet at the Japan arch.
