To book on line or not?

What are the rules for deposit,etc,when booking on line with Disney?I have always called or had my TA book my trip,and I would like to hear from anyone who has booked on line.Thanks,

If you are more than 45 days out, they will put a hold on your reservation for 2 weeks, and give you a due date for your $200 deposit. The balance will be due 45 days before travel.

My best advice is to simply call and book directly with Disney.

If you book online, the actual policies regarding cancellation and such are the same, but it's much harder to make changes later if you need. If you do it all by phone, you can call and control your whole vacation. If you book online and then need to call and make a change, there are a lot of extra hoops to jump through (including not being able to simply transfer the deposit over, you'd have to pay another one while the first was being refunded).

If you want the most flexibility, just call yourself. Just the fact that you are here shows you know enough about Disney to be able to do this; their agents are well trained in dealing with newbies, and if you're here you can do it yourself.

Book directly with Disney! I booked with TA and have regretted it. If you

are reading DISboards, you are better informed than most travel agents. It's

a big pain to try and make changes through TA. If you book through Disney

you have much more control over your vacation.

I booked a room online and then I called to take advantage of the AP rate. The CM said we would have to cancel the online booking entirely and rebook the AP rate because I did it online. I never knew this. The CM told me if I had called then we could have just applied the code. You live and learn!
