To boldly go and do what no spacecraft has done before

It comes full circle

Another sap here.

Funny, I just ordered the documentary "In the Shadow of the Moon" yesterday.

Of all the wonderful trips I've had to Disney and Orlando, my most special
memory is getting to see a shuttle launch from Kennedy Space Center in February 2008.

It makes me sad that we don't have a vehicle to replace the shuttle. It's just like when they retired the Concorde - no more commercial supersonic flights. It feels like we're not progressing. :confused3

Saw this movie summer 2007. Fabulous film.
I liked who the astronauts still spoke of their time in space and on the moon in sheer awe and wonderment.

I recognize 5 of the original cast.

Sadly, at least two of them have passed.

You're not an old sap. It is sad to see the end of the shuttles. In a way, I've been lucky enough to be alive since NASA began. I was in 6th grade, iirc, when the Apollo 1 astronauts died on the launchpad.
BTW, OKW, another one that passed, who was in the picture, was Gene Rodenberry.

I didn't realize Gene was in the picture. So, in addition to Gene, Scotty and McCoy are also gone.

Gene Roddenberry is in the rust-colored suit, and kind of looks like the alternate present-day Biff at the end of Back To The Future...

I want to say that the guy to his right is Harve Bennett, but I'm not sure he was involved at that point. Otherwise it may just be a NASA rep.

Most of the actors had more hair than they do now (or did), except Nichelle Nichols, who's sporting probably the shortest hair cut she ever had...

Basically, everyone's there except The Shat.

Yes, I am a Trekkie...

I don't know what any of you are talking about, since I'm not into the space program or Star Trek, but wow, dig those 70s fashions! Groovy!!
