So they are posting big proposed numbers of $180 per point. Yes I wanted in too, and this number took the wind out of my sails. But then I remembered: I am already a BLT owner, and so are all of you. The only difference between me and those who will pay the $180 a point pricetag is 4 months (We can all reserve there at the 7 month window).

I'm with you on that one...although I most likely wouldn't get a room there in the initial years (I teach so I travel during peak times), I figure that one day I will stay there. I can be patient! I love SSR and I think we will be buying into AKV. The $180 per point price tag is ridiculous to me!!!!

Wow that is ridiculouly high!! We're planning to buy a resale at BWV and will be paying A LOT less per point!!!

I know we all have the chance to stay there with booking 7 months out, but this being the only monorail DVC resort, it's not looking so good for years!! I also travel during peak times (summer) because we are both teachers. Although, we technically can go any time throughout the months of July and August so you never know. Not counting on it though!! But I do know that we will be plenty happy to be at BWV and walk to Epcot and DHS!!!

You assume..

What if they do offer this as a seperate "product" and the only way to stay there is to BUY there?

It's not beyond the realm of possiblity that this is being set up to compete not with CURRENT DVC but with Four Seasons and as a new "product" Deluxe Disney Vacation Club anyone?

So how would that work?

They could only stay at BLT? That doesn't sound like a good deal for those people. Only one DVC resort at WDW. I wouldn't want to be limited to just one resort at WDW if I bought into DVC at a premium price. I don't think that's very appealing.

Maybe they could stay at BLT and at the other DVC resorts, but we can't stay at BLT? That doesn't sound right either. They didn't buy into our properties, why can they use our rooms?

I also don't think $120 - $180 a point is very appealing. I can buy at VWL near MK for a lot less and the atmosphere is nicer.

I love the monorail and would like to own at BLT, but I'm not that in love with it. I can still get cash rooms at the Poly or Contemporary at a reasonable rate with the AP discount. Why would I want to overpay for that location?
:confused3

This was my thinking......goodbye GF HELLO Four Seasons!

Since when is the price per point adjusted by the resort being sold??

They have always sold points at a set price regardless of which home resort they were purchased at....when we bought in years ago you could buy OKW, VB or HH at the same price....slightly different sales incentives and slightly different minimum number of points that could be purchased....but the same cost per point. Has remained that way although the price per point has continued to escalate.

Weren't SSR and AKV points the same price per point??

It doesn't make sense to me that the price per point would be so significantly different for a new resort unless that was the only place they were selling points for... Now it might make sense that the point structure there would be significantly higher and would require a larger number of points for a minimum purchase.

Where is the $180/point figure coming from?

Disney compete with Four Seasons :rotfl2:

Are you going to wave your magic "service' wand at the BLT CM's Carol?

Way, way too expensive for me, especially with the £ dropping against the $ Which would be a shame since I'd really like to own there.

don't count on staying there - at least not for years.

DVC will probably do what they did with VWL.

with VWL you could not trade into the resort - they say that until more of the resort was sold into DVC - then you couldn't trade your resort for it.

this allows most of the BLT to be rented by CRO.

Disney gets their suites and DVC gets to say that BLT is one of their resorts - depsite not telling new members that they can't trade into it until a lot more is sold.

works for them - just not us.

if they go this route - then expect to have to buy BLT or wait for a few years to get into it.

BLT owners will always be able to get BLT.

guess we will find out shortly. If pre sales go as planned, then everyone can trade into it. if pre sales are less - then hey waited almost 16 years for this thing what is a few more years.

I would enjoy DVC more if they would make it much more difficult to "resort hop," either by reducing the window for staying at a non-home resort or by charging a fee to stay elsewhere.

BLT is going to be a truly unique product. If they are really going to charge a huge premium on points (versus just having an expensive point chart), then they will need to do something to protect the customers. Opening the resort to everyone at 7-months isn't going to cut it.

While they are at it why not get moving on the other half of POP as DVC lite for those who are not quite ready for the other DVC's. So now we can have the majority of DVC rooms in the Moderate DVC category, Deluxe for the BLT's and the low rent district over at POP. :scared: Then we can create and play DVC monopoly too!

I don't believe this rumour of $140-$180 per point. Original rumours had it pegged at $115 per point as a starting price, which is MUCH more believable.

It certainly would make more sense to charge higher numbers of points to stay there than it would to have a separate point price structure. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It may be very naive of me, but I am assuming that the price would be no more than $115. I can see how attractive the location and view would be. But I can't see how it would be worth $180/pt. That's utterly ridiculous.:sad2:

I would love to do some add ons. I was planning on doing so, but definitely not this much. I don't even think I would pay $115/pt. But at least, that's more reasonable. JMO.

I do believe it will be difficult to stay there if you don't own there, but I won't lose sleep over that.

Now, if they ever decide to add a DVC villa to the Polynesian, IMO, that's another story. But even with this, I could not, nor would not pay $180/pt.

I also think the price will be more along the lines of $115-$120, if its even that high. $180 is just insane. I think the points per night will be high, particularly for MK view - I'm think something like AKV concierge levels, maybe a little higher.

Why not? BLT buyers can book 11, 10, 9, and 8 months in advance before non-owners. Why isn't that "going to cut it"?
