Hello all,
My wife and I have just decided to book a trip home for August 21 to the 31st. We are avid BWV lovers and were a little dissappointed (no fault of BWV) to find out that BWV have nothing available during that time frame. I knew the odds were bad using a 5 month window but gave it a shot.
Member Services had replied saying that there is availability @ Saratoga Springs. My question is: Will I be dissappointed or will I be pleasantly surprised?
I visited SSR when it opened in 04 and it looked very nice. I am not sure of the condo feel however!! What do the experts say???

I think you'll have a lovely time. The funishings and theme are very elegant, you are at Disney after all :thumbsup2

I think your question about SSR might be better answered by avid SSR owners.

I am certain the quality if the resort is wonderful, it is Disney after all.

Heck who knows, you may end up falling in love with the location. The Earl sandwich place is there, ya know...........

In regards to booking BW 5 mths out, .......... I fear those days are over. IMO in the future when we book at 4-5 mths we are going to be somewhat limited as to where we can stay. The less then ideal locations will be the last to have openings.

I can only compare it to the Beach Club. I liked SS much better. It is also a very short walk to Downtown Disney..I am going back on May 7th..

Bill, I would make Reservations at SS and then put your name on the waiting list for BWV. I booked at BWV for a 1-Bedroom Standard on 8-31-05 for April 6-15 and got it, but on Feb 16 2006 my oldest daughter and friend decided to go. So I tried to get a 2-Bedroom and could not. I went on the waiting list for either a 2-bedroom or a studio. As of today I have all the dates I need in a studio room, except 1, for my daughter. She has to move 2 times but at least she has a room at BWV. I thought that is pretty good for getting it less than 2 months out and for the week before Easter. Good luck with your dates.

I think the previous poster was referring to the Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney, just a walk or short boat ride from SSR. Unless something has changed since our last visit in December, that's the only EofS. The EofS gets rave reviews from most people.

As far as the rooms themselves at SSR, they're laid out just like VWL, BWV as nearly as I can see. As for the "condo" feel, I don't know why a distinction would necessarily be a concern--I've stayed in a location down one of BWV hallways that seemed to go to infinity and beyond. You can't get a bad DVC as far as I'm concerned. Some may fit your needs better than others but that's just personal taste.

If you get a room in Congress Park, or on that side of SSR, you can walk easily to DTD's West Side where the Earl of Sandwich is located. And yes, I too think their food is great and not unreasonably priced. They make a great tuna melt if you like fish.

I would do the same book what is available but waitlist for what you want. Disney is Disney I dont care which DVC I stay at. The magic takes over!!

lol! Geez, 3b, the Earl of Sandwich is WAAAYYY over in DTD. Off site. Near Daytona.

Bill K - it's a new sandwich shop in DTD. It replaced the Gourmet Pantry.

on site is a state of mind.

I have heard Earls sandwich shop is good.

long walk, but good......

I wonder if they accept the mugs from BWV for re-fills?

:rotfl2: I guess us SSR owners are real "ghetto" we just don't realize how far offsite we really are

Earl's is good... mmmm.... I do recall long lines and no place to sit and eat though... :confused3

As for using the BWV mugs... :rotfl2: umm... they do have the drink machines over on the side for you to get your own drink... however, I do believe they would expect you to purchase one of their cups.

Oh, and I agree with most of the other posters... book your stay at SSR (or OKW) and then waitlist for BWV.
