We live an hour from Schlitterbahn in Texas, which we absolutely LOVE. On our trip in August, we are planning to visit both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. We have never had time to try either of them. This time I planned the trip length around being able to squeeze them in.

My question, for those who have been to both Schlitterbahn and one of the Disney water parks, is this: Are we spoiled by Schlitterbahn? Will we enjoy TL and BB as much? I am thinking maybe the theming will be very attractive to us, but that we may not want to wait in long lines for things that we can do right in our backyard.

Thoughts, anyone?

I live here in Texas and have been to Schlitterban many many times. I have also been to both TL and BB and they are AMAZING!...the lazy river at TL is just beautiful I think the best thing about it was to just float around and know "holy cow we are in Disney World"!..the wave pool in TL is awesome..I love the tropical setting of TL...the atmosphere and setting in BB is way cool...all the different slides in BB is worth checking out..now I know that "everything is bigger in Texas" and you think "no way is there a better waterpark than Schlitterban" but you will definitely not be dissapointed by these two! enjoy!

I can not think of anything at Schlitterbahn that compares to the wave pool at TL, and we love Schlitterbahn, doing it yearly. The lines there are as long as the ones you will find at TL or BB. It will be a great change for your family. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for all your comments so quickly. I think I am sold. We will keep both in our itinerary.

We are also strongly considering the early morning TL surfing, for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We've surfed the ocean, behind a wakeboard boat, and onboard a cruise ship. Why not TL too?

I am SO excited!! Glad to hear we won't be disappointed with BB and TL.

great idea..because you know you aren't going to get any good surfing done here in Texas :rotfl:

I use to work at Schlitterbahn Beach on South Padre Island, and went to both TL and BB during our trip last August..and loved it! The water coaster at TL, which provides three different options to go on, so really its three different rides, and I think you'll enjoy it if you like Schilitterbahn's water coasters. The slides at BB are top notch too. I think you'll really have a great time at either of the Disney water parks!

The recent report of the Themed Entertainment Association rates, among other things, the top 20 water parks worldwide. TL was 1, BB was 2, Schlitterbahn (New Braunfels) was 10 (it was number 4 in North America).

Sure is different than what the Travel Channel always says but to each their own. They're all good waterparks.
